Just got my NPC Organic 10" installed and the pedal feels like an N15 pulsar's - light as. Still wearing it in but so far it feels really grippy and easy to use. A lot better than the Exedy that came out, which was slipping at 250rwkw and felt like doing a 40kg left leg press.

My NPC Organic 10" is a rebadged Exedy unit (or vice versa), even the part numbers match. So my assumption is that a new Exedy would be just as good as a new NPC with these specs :)

nope, NPC uses Exedy parts - however their clutches are modified with different friction material and their pressure plates are modified in house.

A normal Sports Organic or Ceramic (silver pressure plate) clamps less than a NPC and the pedal effort required to disengage the clutch is heaps more.

Doug from NPC (I believe through rumours) used to work at Exedy and took his knowledge to NPC.

  • 5 weeks later...

Good clutch worked well but doesnt last too long under heavy abuse compared to my previous exedy HHHDB but trade off is its easy on the box lasted 11 drift events roughly 1 year HHHDB lasted 2.5years and still was working when removed going to move up to the twin plate super coppermix competition now.

Same, mine has had over 80+ rwd launches

1 Very very bad launch at the drags which was rode mistakenly.
( had to let it cool down after that )

Many many track days, 2 1000 meter runway events

going on 2 years now i think from memory

My last 3 clutches before that where both Exedy Organic's HD

1 did ok...but that was around 300 hp.

1 fried it self after a couple of months

The other literally snapped the pressure plate.

My mate also same clutch, broke 2 of them, 1 was the same Pressure plate snap.

Exedy where awful when it came to asking wtf happened when it was sent back.

Got " you change gears to fast " ......really....

Never buying exedy again.

Yeah i guess difference is in my use its cinstntly clutch kick 3rd 4th gear consecutively as appose to drag doing 1 launch then it has time recover and cooldown or circuit driving its proper shifting. But like i said definately good clutch in terms of what it can take for such a low camping force and does save boxes.

The only exedy that is good is the hhhdb clutch disc is identical to the npc with only diff having a massive 1500n clamping load pressure plate lol but rest of the mild exedy clutches dont take much abuse.

    • Welcome.  Glad to hear that you have gained some knowledge that has helped you. I believe the only fix for the power steer belt is an electric conversion with a Holden astra pump. If you get a chance, post pics of your car, please. 🙂

    • to have this type of adjustment possible with a curve as I wish, what budget (engine) should be planned?

    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
