34GeeTeeTee
Yeah wakie and coota were awesome. wish I had got to see the hill climb as well. the other thing re: changing cars for different rounds gives everyone a chance of running. I'm sure there are guys with 9 sec evos in the evo oz club who would have loved the chance to run at coota. but they stuck to the same guys. We planned on sticking to the same guys too but Nulon wanted to attract crowds and no better way to do that then bring 1000hp skylines 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/446849-nulon-nationals-round-3-final-drag-battle/page/5/#findComment-7398485 Share on other sites
zebra
haha yeah. my thoughts too. id rather see the even grow instead of being a bit meh with everyone running 14.2 @ 98. spectators/bums on seats is what will make the event huge. if foosball teams can change their line up depending on who the are playing we (all teams) should be able to as well Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/446849-nulon-nationals-round-3-final-drag-battle/page/5/#findComment-7398491 Share on other sites

And its up to the clubs to give Nulon something back for making the event happen I believe SAU has done the best it can to achieve that. GTRKat
Yep, Chris was stoked at our efforts! I'm all for giving everyone a go, but there's only so many 12 or slower second cars that people want to see on a runway before it gets boring. Duncan
I understand why Nulon chose to change the rules, and why we took advantage of the changes. But personally I preferred the previous rules (ie a certain % of the cars had to carry over, I think it was 4/6). Also if they were my rules every entrant would have to financial member of the club and specific exemptions granted to run a separate marque than the club's focus. And one other thing, although it certainly worked in our favour; I would have equal points available from each round. Round 3 was almost 50% of the available points which is too high a weighting. In the end, this is meant to be a club event not a superlap competitor. None the less, good on Nulon and Chris in particular for having the vision and commitment to go through with this, I'd love to see it continue. I agree, the rule would have made it interesting to see who had the best all rounder... However we played with the rules and took advantage of them 2015 planning is currently underway so all feedback will be noted. GTRKat
True, but we're being given the opportunity to provide input to try help build on things for next year. Onwards and upwards. Awesome success for a new event in my opinion. tweety bird
you'd have to create a user and login anyway. They have been saying they are the only ones that kept to their forum models(all drove evo), and that we had evo and others. Apparently we also didn't carry drivers over between rounds? Baby's. GTRKat
I think the rule change was better actually. Why not let all clubs bring the best field they can to all three events? Really, a drag setup car is boring as shit to watch at the circuit and vice versa. I know I wouldn't drive all the way to Cootamundra to watch only 12-13 second cars. Either way you'll see that all clubs have their strengths somewhere. It's not like we fully dominated all 3 rounds. I like the idea of equal points for each round. Not too sure on the financial membership. Not sure if evo_oz has financial club? Also, as changed, I like being able to run the best the club/forum has to offer at each stage. There aren't that many all rounders out there unfortunately. So, the changed rules add alot more excitement to the events. Not too sure on running the make/model the club supports. I'm kind of for it. GTR-N1
Commodore Club running an R35 is like SAU running a Corvette. By 2018, some club might be running a Venom GT. GTRKat
I think Commodore club had a Corvette too! I'm not fussed on the types of cars people bring as long as they're from the club/in their community. It's not like we boot members out when they sell Skylines so why would we exclude them based on car type? If you want to get technical an R35 isn't even a Skyline so eventually leaves us to a point where we're disadvantaged because our cars aren't in production anymore and haven't been for a long time. FJ 720
I reckon it's silly to have the same cars doing all the rounds, turns the whole event into a 1 horse race where the team with the 1 super fast car wins everything. Having teams pulled from a larger membership base better reflects the depth of the competing club. After all this should be about the club not the fastest car. Also equal points per round would have been better. I think we still would've won but it would've been a much closer race. As it was the double points only really suited fast drag teams at the back of the pack (fords) and all round fast awesome teams Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/446849-nulon-nationals-round-3-final-drag-battle/page/5/#findComment-7399021 Share on other sites
