well you can get an r32 GTR landed from about 10k including all running gear (not that it would all be running :D ) But if you need to register the car you would need to either buy a 15 year old car or buy a full working undamaged stock car to import under sevs rules.

If you were going to get a cheap R32 GTR it would have to be a project car because they all drain big money when things break

Ide get one and also buy a cheap car i can use for work etc

First get the engine out and worked on by a good rebuilder/workshop, while thats happening do alot of the body/suspension/interior etc work yourself as its not quite as hard and u can save alot of $

depening on how much u have upfront to do it up, shouldnt take more than 6months tops,

worth it if you got the time & money, you basically get a brand new gtr for less than the price of a used one

Personally I would go with something that is mechanically a bit simpler than a GT-R -- between 4WD, twin turbo, HICAS, ABS, etc, etc there are lots of bits that can go wrong and will cost you a fortune to buy bit-by-bit. I would look either at an older Skyline (you could always copy Duncan, the luck bastard) or perhaps something else with a strong community. Personally I have always wanted to do an AE86 to truely worship the rice boy within me -- "LW say, follow the path of Takumi-san: AE86 for you" :P

(Although I am being a little silly, I am quite serious though..)

GO THE TOFU SHOP! :headspin:

I really need to go sort my ****ed friend out, picked up a AE86 as a trade in (he works at the dealer) for $1500......PRICK

For an Australia delivery AE86 with 4AC, that cheap but not all that fantastic (depending on condition, particularly rust).

Hey,

How about combined with all three?

And how much you guess it'll be building all up? 20K? 30K?

Cheers

I did this. Bought a clean (not F*cked) GTR, rented a shed, pulled it apart - everything, dipped shell, re built - everything, re- assembled to concoarse standard, modified many things along the way for performance/reliability etc...

Total build time - 4 years. (using mainly weekends and nights) (I am an experienced marine engineer by trade so I knew what I was doing)

build cost - $80G plus.

Was it worth the exercise? - doubtful

Would I do it again? - Absolutely!

Did I lose money when I sold it recently - yes, obscene amounts.

Overall, not a task I'd recommend for a 17 year old for a first project. Get a Datsun 1600 or something!

Put it this way, I'd of ripped the interior out of it 'drift spec' But seriously, obviously didn't look the dogs balls, but for $1500, pretty nice :) Cheap to run, 4cyl rwd transport, can't go wrong :(

    • Seeing as it's an 04 model, I would be hitting up wreckers first.
    • No not yet.  Hopefully this weekend if I can pluck up the confidence!  I had to sit in the car at one point yesterday to unbolt the rear struts.  As mentioned in an earlier post when I was putting it together there is still a bit of rotation possible so when I sat in the car, it rotated a little bit.  I near shit myself thinking the whole thing was coming down!  I do 99% of my own shit in the shed but I think I might call on some assistance the first time I spin it!
    • Strong first post. On a Skyline-centric forum. Have you considered actually going out into the world, visiting the actual dealership, and asking the parts guy over the counter? Or at least just call them up on the phone?
    • Should shit that in as for the driver ability probably not
    • Trying to find the plastic under cover for an 04' Forester X. The main under cover that covers most of the front of the vehicle under the engine. This has turned out to be a crazy experience. Normally I can find parts for vehicles, if I have the correct info, no problem. But not this! The Forester is a non-turbo btw. In a Forester parts catalog, for model years 03'-06', it shows part# 56410SA070 as being the correct part. So I go to the local Subaru dealership's website to order it. I type in the part#, hit search and there it is, the under cover. "DOES THIS PART FIT YOUR VEHICLE?" I type in my VIN# and sure enough, "This Part Does Not Fit Your Vehicle. See Similar Parts For Your Vehicle." I click on that and part# 56410SA000 comes up. Looks absolutely nothing like the previous part. Not even close. So I go to a different Subaru dealer website and put in that 2nd part# (56410SA000) and "This Part Has Been Replaced By" 56410SA070, which is the first part I looked up. I thought OK, makes sense. They replaced the strange looking part, with the one I looked up first, so I add it to the cart. "Does This Part Fit Your Vehicle?" I type in my VIN#, and sure enough, "This Part Does Not Fit Your Vehicle." I've basically been doing this with various parts suppliers and dealerships, for the past 4 hours! Does anyone know what the hell is going on?? Thanks in advance!
