G'day guys. I'm thinking of buying an BMW out of Canberra and bringing it back to Melbourne. I'm getting it inspected by Anthony Costello in Fyshwick which is fine. The thing I'm unsure about is whether there are roadworthy certificates in the ACT and what standard they are to. In Vic if you'e disposing of a car with plates (private sale) you need a RWC. In Vic it's like Nazi Germany getting these done. They are very strict especially when compared to Qld and NSW where it seems a lot slacker.

I guess if you do have them, and they are really strict, the person inspecting the car will probably do so in a way that will be helpful for me when it gets to Vic. If they're anything like Qld, as long as the brakes half work and it's not gushing fluids underneath, you get your certificate.

So how rigorous is all of this in the ACT?

Thanks.

Really depends on who is on duty at Dickson pits on the day.

Fortunately I got through first time with no dramas there a few months ago when I picked up the GTR.

Didn't need a vehicle identity check as it was an import with first time registration into the country.
