Righto so I've recently purchased new windscreen seal kits for the front and rear of my R32 GTR..

As most of you know buying this stuff from Nissan costs as much as a engine rebuild... (nearly :/)

What I want to know is who here has had them done by a workshop and were you happy with the quality of work that was done?

Ive used windscreens O'Brian before and I was slightly put off by a couple of things they did, but we wont talk about that here.

I don't want to be doing this job twice so any recommendations are appreciated

cheers

Ok Joe ......... It's your lucky day.

I used Manie's Mobile Windscreens 2 weeks ago and about 18 months ago and in both cases he was excellent.

I did the same thing, sourced the moulds and fasteners direct from Nissan and got Manual to fit them.

You should get change out of $400.00 for the lot but remember there is a bit of mucking around at the rear due to the wiper.

He comes to you as he is mobile.

He did/does work for Unique Auto Sports and Hills Motorsports to name a few Skyline oriented workshops.

He knows these cars very well and has been doing this work for 20+ years.

His mobile number is (0408) 255 548.

Cheers,

Bob.

Bob you are a legend!

I've actually had to cut the nut off the rear wiper as it was that rusted that I fear if I used a breaker bar I would break the glass :/

From memory that's cheaper then windscreens obrian

I'll give him a call when I get the parts in :)

Cool....... Have you ordered the parts?

If not I can give you the exact part numbers and pricing.

I bought the fasteners locally because the shipping was either too dear or too big but I got all the moulds from Amayama.

That’s amayama.com - good price and service.

I use jp-carparts.com to find the parts - Exploded views etc and then copy/paste into amayama.

Let me know if you need any help with the exact parts.

If you do you will need to tell me the exact date of your car build as they had some minor changes throughout the series.

Cheers,

Bob.

Thanks once again Bob, I've ordered the parts already through rhd Japan, I wanted to buy the outer weather sheild for both doors but they were ridiculously expensive so I've passed for the time being.

I will look at the site u have recommended.

Do you know if he does window tinting or glass chip repairs?

No........ Windscreens only.

I can't help with chip repairs but Tint on the Move is my tint guy.

Tints and removes tint which is what use him for.

Mobile too. Give him a call on (0430) 323 436

Tell him Bob with the Skylines in Castle Hill recommended you. Good guy with good work at a very fair price.

Bob.

  • 3 weeks later...

Gave him a quick call yesterday. Sounded like a really nice guy.

He quoted me around 350 for front and rear which is great as windscreens obrian wanted 220 for just the rear from memory.

And it's a mobile service! Will be using his services for

Sure!

    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
