Hey guys

The engine in my r33 gtst is getting a full makeover. The final result should show well over 300rwkw. I have been reading on the Internet on how to get flames out the exhaust after giving it a boot?

If you degut the carry or whatever it's called will you still get in trouble or will they see it has a cat and not know its gutted?

Also when it says the car is running rich. Does that mean you run it richer then normal or will it still blow flames on a normal tune just without the cat.

Cheers

Tyler

Yes gutting the cat will assist with flames, but it's a terrible reason for getting rid of that cat which is a critical part of the exhaust system. If it is a street car i highly advise leaving the cat alone or replacing it with a high flow metal one. It takes all the nasty chemicals out of the exhaust and traps. Without the cat you will not pass an emissions test if you have to pass one for rego whatever state you are in. If you gut the cat its still pretty easy for a switched on policeman to tell, just stnad behind the car when you rev it and it stinks, whereas nowehre near as much smell with the cat.

Getting caught withwout/with a gutted cat is a maximum penalty of $16,000 if i remember correctly.

Have fun.

Grab a fuel injector. Weld it into the exhaust system with an ignitor. Wire it all up with an activation button under the clutch pedal. SICK WAN!

But seriously..

Skylines get enough unwanted attention without shooting flames. You might change your mind once you get done.

Grab yourself a nice venom cat!

Hotrod used to use a spark plug in the exhaust, and let it run overly rich on deceleration.

That's how they achieved it.

I personally wouldn't worry about it.

How are you going to see them?

If to impress others, a car thats quicker with less flames will generally impress more.

Either way, good luck.

Hope you don't blow up.

Yeah screw it.

I don't want to lose the whole car or have to spend more because of defects just for some flames. Ill see how it is when its finished and spend the money on something else.

Good call !
