Is there an equivalent "Classic, Vintage & Veterans" Insurance in other states better known as...

* SGIC in SA and...

* SGIO in WA ???

Good suggestion Tez , I gave SGIC a call and that insurance does not exist in S.A not sure about W.A , i did however tell Shannons i am driving my car less ,

so they reduced my insurance from $1200 to $ 930 / year for R34 GTR .

I didn't realise how expensive insurance is interstate , i thought S.A would be the worst as everything else - e.g. registration is one of the highest .

Well Dave Snape Mngr of NRMA Classic, Veteran and Vintage and I were discussing how he would like to come to a SAU.NSW Exec Meeting in the near future. I'm not an Exec anymore but perhaps the question needs to be asked about parity across SGIC and SGIO as well?

so what if you drive more then 9000kms a year ? do they cancel the policy or ?

Not sure, but I was never asked to provide ODO meter readings. There is no mention in the PDS about providing evidence of said KM's per year other than 9000km or less.

What one says over the phone interview is a contractual agreement - and it's recorded.

And each year's pink slip can be checked retrospectively through RMS yes as per previous post.

Power of negotiation can work wonders - especially if salespeople with clout can sense that your moolah might indeed, walk away.

Tez, have him look me up and call me at work. Prob can't fit it in tomorrow but since I work at IAG should be able to catch up with him.

Wow this will be very interesting to have a different perspective and added information :)

Dave Snape said this morning that he's already emailed the NSW Prez.

He says that interstate enquirers are welcome to call him directly on 0411011205 and still procure NRMA Classic, Veteran and Vintage coverage subject to the top 2 posts on this thread.

Evidently the junior staff on 1800646605 are on a steep learning curve but they are eager to please.

I called Shannons to see what they could do for me. They said lowest they can go is $1500. I told them i'm still saving $1000 a year and will be cancelling at the end of the month and going with NRMA.

Another loyal Shannons customer making the move. $800 saving compared to Shannons limited use policy, and increased value

Can't argue with that.

On a side note, haven't spoken to such a helpful customer service team in a very long time.

    • Just one more post to show the final result and the original "janky" solution for a laugh. Everything feels really tight and no wobbling at all, very pleased 🙂

    • The hot exhaust light will come on not from just the cat being blocked, but it's just a temp sensor, and it's designed to warn you to not do things like park in long grass.   If you've been pushing the motor a bit, it can cause the light to come on.   Second if the cat is rattling, I'd suspect it's not blocked, but instead falling apart inside.   The easiest "fix" until you can get a cat put back in, is to unbolt your one, bash the rest of the insides out, and then bolt it back in.   For a daily driver/street car, I am in agreeance of put a cat in the car. If it were race car I wouldn't care if it were removed.
    • No worries at all 🫡 I think the most satisfying things to make are the little bits that are just impossible to find or they're no longer manufactured. Generally I always try to replace parts with OEM wherever possible. This little project is also great because it'll never see the light of day, but strengthen these brackets so it's not just relying on the little standard screws in the headlight plastic. As soon as I saw the standard brackets and screws I thought, "well I'm not going to install with just the screws, the plastic tabs will just snap off". It's crazy how expensive everything has become yeah. But I suppose that's supply and demand; granted it's a lot easier to get brand new genuine parts these days which is fantastic 😊, I don't have to get totally reamed at the local Nissan dealer ha ha We sure are lucky we have all these manufacturers making parts these days, a few really great Australian companies too like Platinum Racing Products and Fit Mint Automotive, what a time to be alive ❤️ . I've got my eye on the RB26 head by PRP as mine has a very fine hairline crack, so that'll need to be addressed some time in the future. If you have any requests or odd things to make feel free to let me know and I can have a crack at making replacement parts ✌️
