Hey Guys,

I bought a R32 GTR about 2 months ago, such a AWESOME car, had a bit of a taste of a few over last few years.

One thing i noticed on the way home was a whine in what i thought was the diff.

But recently ive recently its not the diff its the gearbox (R33 Gearbox), cos when its out of gear and rolling their is no whine!

Any one know what the dealios is? I DOUBT its got straight cut gears, although the guy i got it off had hardly any mechanical knowledge.

Thanks

Nick

clutch in and whine = thrust bearing

clutch out and whine = input shaft bearing

either of these is intermittent and only at cold... low oil

straight cuts.... you would know its very apparent and alot will have dogs not synchos which changes the gearbox feel.... in short if u had straight cuts and you had never had a car with them you would think your car was broken

Sorry Luke, I get what you mean. My comment was in relation to op thinking that maybe the gearbox was straight cut.

Typically if it is the seller would mention it as it's not a cheap exercise.
