Karnicle
Greetings All, Currently I own a Turbo 80 Series Landcruiser (Which I shall Sell) you might be thinking wtf am i doing on this forum lol Hopefully I'll get atleast 9-10k from selling it. I have narrowed down my options of purchasing a car. oh and I'm a red P-Plater. Mazda RX-8 (Banned in QLD 4 p-platers but who gives a sh*t) Benefits - Fast - Rotary - 4 Doorish (suicide doors) - Not very High Profile for Cops - New Disadvantages - Expensive to Run - High Maintenance - Limited Cosmetic Modifications - Poor Fuel Economy - Prone to Engine Rebuilds if not kept 100% in shape Nissan Skyline R34 GT (non Turbo) Benefits - My Favourite Body - Credible in the Car World (Not sure on the rep of a n/a skyline though lol) - Room for people in the back - Not as thirsty as a RX-8 - Still faster than my Cruiser Disadvantages - Non Turbo = Missing out on power - Not allot of knowledge on them (My Brother owned a GT-R totally different to a N/A GT however) - Cop Magnet I'm Looking for a vehicle I love to Drive which handles well and performs at speed that could at least keep up with an N/A Supra (My Mate) I know the RX-8 could definately out perform the Supra but it feels as though it would be a thing of Built not Bought and I'd feel pretty dog. I just wanna get some imput on what I should do and what is more value for money Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/448354-what-should-i-purchase/ Share on other sites

Cowboy1600
Keep the cruiser till you can drive a turbo car. Don't waste your time and money on an RX8 or 34GT. 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/448354-what-should-i-purchase/#findComment-7384001 Share on other sites

Karnicle
Keep the cruiser till you can drive a turbo car. Don't waste your time and money on an RX8 or 34GT. I'll be able to drive a turbo vehicle in 3 years, only a few minor things. I expect to be joining the Military next year at the end of the year so I kinda want a car to play with for a year my mates will be moving away within 3 years so ill kinda be flying solo for a bit. my cruiser is definitely gonna burn my pocket we just did all the stuff to it and boy did it cost allot and took allot of hours to rebuild. It's definitely a burden and we barely take it out 4wding Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/448354-what-should-i-purchase/#findComment-7384275 Share on other sites
Karnicle
Skyline advantage: Not gay RX8 disadvantage gay or what Aaron said Each to their own I guess, but yes definately the RX-8 is a hardcore option which costs allot of money to run effectively.. like warming it up for like a minute or two before using it yada yada yada.. GTR_JOEY
Honestly save your cash man, sell the cruiser and buy something that's going to cost minimum to run. I can assure you your car will sit there doing nothing for the first 3-6 months of your military career anyway. Every dollar you don't spend now will be worth double on your full license if you just buy a shit car now. Ben C34
You are basing your car choice on keeping up with your mates car. That's funny. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/448354-what-should-i-purchase/#findComment-7385134 Share on other sites

GTR-N1
Whilst entering the military, I personally wouldn't care how fast my mate went whilst being trained to be able to drive like Pierce Brosnan in a tank. JezR31
Both are nice cars, one may be faster than the other but they're still slow in the real world. I wouldn't worry about power on these two models, perhaps fit some coil overs and sticky tyres and enjoy the good handling they have. I don't know if you are able to afford one, but the Toyota 86's are nice to drive, handle very well when you get rid of the shitty tyres they have. Not straight line fast but they're great non the less.
