Hi everyone

I have an 1989 4 door R32 GTS-t fresh from Japan.

Unfortunately it is auto and im gettting annoyed at it already!

I have all the main parts necessary for the conversion (I think), including a new heavy duty Xtreme clutch kit, with thrust bearing.

I was wondering are there any important details that need to be looked after when changing to the manual box as the people helping me dont have a whole lot of knowledge with skylines.

Also, is there a spiggot bush or bearing in there, and is it necessary to change it?

I would like to replace it to be sure but am not exactly sure what im after.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated :headspin:

Hi Scott090

This isnt a hard jod but some things wont fit such as the spigget bush its the wrong one change it yes .also the standard manuel crossmember wont fit

or the auto one i did this conversion in my r32 2 door and had to use a s13 cross member it fitted perfect u also hve to run wires for ur reversing lights & netruel switch as well as bridge two wires near the fuse box that run from the old auto box so the car will start otherwise you'll turn the key and nothing will happen and you'll pull your hair out as i did can't think of what colour wires they are at the moment but i did a search here to find them and of course the yoke on the tail shaft is wrong as you prob already know but they are the same length installinf the pedal box is no big problem either but a lot easier if u pull drivers seat out installing clutch master cylinder is a bit fidilly as the bolts are hard to get at once in position ,line mounting points are all there all u need is original lines and bolts up well u shouldn't have many probs with it i dont think auto starter motor bolts straight up to

Cheers Peter

the only problem i had was getting the bitch of a gearbox in and out of the car.. mine is a GTS4 and the auto and manual crossmember was the same ( thanks god! ). any questions just email or message me..

Have fun!

Thanks guys that should help me alot, especialy if i run into any of those problems.

I am still waiting for some time to machine my flywheel before it goes in, and also waiting for my friend (Mechanic) to clean his workshop so we have some room to work. Hopefully fairly soon

Cheers

I have now machined my flywheel and is ready to go in!

I was wondering if anyone knows the dimensions of the spiggot bush i will need, and where to get it?

If worse comes to worse i could get a mechanic at work to try and turn one on our lathe (not too keen on this idea though)

Also, are there part numbers for the pilot bushings.

your help is muchly appreciated

Hi scotty090

Any clutch place should have them in stock there the same for all the rb engines as far as i know just ask for one for a vl rb30e N/A if there not sure there the same its what im using

Cheers Peter

no they are no the same size!!! repeat they are not the same size.

that's the one we tried to fit but ended up drilling out the centre to make it bigger. when i got my clutch replaced the guy said it was fu**ked!

I would advise consulting nissan on parts. They have all the diagrams for all the parts that sit between the crank and the gearbox, and will be able to tell you which parts are different, and which parts you will need. Funnily enough theyre more than happy to help you sus out which parts you need.

    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
    • Pretty sure they run the same engine as the Q50 hybrid which specifies 95 RON.  I ran 98 in mine for a while, but it made no difference in performance or economy, so I have been using 95 for the last few years.  I have never hit 6.0L/100km, but have returned mid to high 6 on the highway.  Being a hybrid, fuel economy is a lot more dependant on how you drive it.  At 110km/h, mine never goes into EV mode on the highway, so returns closer to 7.5L/100. urban driving can return low 8s if you are careful or over 10 if you are a bit more enthusiastic on the throttle.
    • About a quarter of what you want to do. It's only R7R, not R&dismantle&replaceparts&reassemble&R. ? It is stock. I already told you, you will NOT have broken those. It's f**king 4th gear for Christ's sake. You just chipped the teeth off.
