hi guys,

I'm a newbie in R33 suspensions area..

I would like to ask a question about R33 springs..

last month, I've bought 4pcs Tein Lowering Springs from someone via online..

he said those springs could fit on R33 GTST or R34 GTT stock shocks..

because of my car is R33 GTST so I thought there were not problem at all..

then when my mechanic tried to place those springs into my stock shock, those are not fit..

those springs are too short for my stock shocks..

my question is, where's the problem?

are those springs has been cut?

or R33 GTST and R34 GTT are not having the same springs type or size?

Im taking a guess here, but i reckon your mechanic just meant that stock shocks do not support lowering springs. "springs too short for shocks"
You bought lowering springs, hence why he said that.

That being said, if you are keen on using the springs on stock shocks, its 100% compatible, with the only down side being your shocks sit half way compressed.

It's still better than doing it the ghetto way (people with cut/heated springs on stock shocks)

You probably bought springs for aftermarket dampers/struts. Did you get the spring diameters?

no I don't get the diameter, but maybe I can measure it..

I just guess my springs have cut before so it makes not fit for the stock shocks..

Im pretty sure the spring types are the same but the shocks would be different, cause r34 use both fork types and eyelet type shocks where as r33 just use eyelet?

Anyways as i stated before, you must have purchased lowering springs, hence why your mechanic says the springs are "too short", cause they are lowering springs. The only way to lower a car on springs is to buy springs shorter than the factory springs....which is what you have done. Factory shocks are built for taller springs, however most people still use factory shocks on lowering springs anyway so you should be fine. If you plan on doing some track work then id recommend getting some good shocks e.g. bilstein or kyb. It will still work with factory shocks, you will just have a rough ride with a chance of bottoming out.

you didn't buy them off the seller on SAU by any chance did you? the guy that was selling Tein lowering springs for r33/34 that he said have been cut....? becuaee if you did then yes it would be safe to assume they have been cut...should be easy enough to see anyway

yeah, lowering spring still fit with the factory shocks..

but if it did not fit, the only possible way is the springs have been cut..

he did not say anything about cut the springs..

when my mechanic said "too short", we were realised there's cut on the springs..
