Hi guys,

I recently got my r34 tuned. While in the dyno the car was over heating and my tuner told me that there is lot of rust in the radiator and I will need a replacement. I was looking at some of the radiator in ebay and couldn't find any direct fit radiators for the car.

My question,

Is there any direct fit alloy radiators for r34 or will I need some modification to the standard fan shroud ? Or is it cheap to buy alloy radiator with fan and the shroud ?

Car:- R34 GTT manual 1998

I'm new to SAU.. So any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Sam.

Thanks for the reply Benc34 and wolverine. If the trimming is minor it should be all right. Just to clear things out.. when im purchasing a new alloy radiator it should be 42mm ?

Thanks. Sam

On the stock setup will an upgraded radiator help with oil temps at all? I find my oil temps getting to 120 deg c in summer on 40 deg days just cruising around with the stock radiator.

Nope.

Get an oil cooler with a built in thermostat.

Any reasonably priced suggestions? I was just surprised that on a stock setup it would get that hot..

Well you can buy Japanese brand named stuff for up to $1000 or you can just get a sandwich plate with built in thermostat for about $100 some rubber hose (yes it works fine) and a small oil cooler radiator (spend the money on a good one). I'm in NZ so can't point you to the shops.

(Like this - not sure if this exact one will fit your car but I have a Mocal one for my RB)

    • Gents, it will be getting the MX5 Mania kit and the 2.5 will be staying where it is My query was about the 0.64 or the 0.86, whilst the 0.64 might spool a bit faster, would the 0.86 be better IRT EGT and mechanical sympathy, with only a small difference in spool And as I assume I won't need alot of boost to get to 200kw, probably around 10 psi, and with max rpm at 6500, would high EGT even really be a issue with a 0.64 I'm heading into MX5 Mania at the end of Jan to discuss the install, so any info is welcome prior to that Basically have a chat and book a time so they can throw on the turbo kit, and fit a oil cooler with a thermostat, drive in drive out of course  In other news: just finished cleaning the car inside and out, it's now all ready to get covered in bugs and dirt driving to Goulburn tomorrow to lunch,  and go for a stroll along woolondilly River with the daughter and her boy, and of course, visit my grandcats and my new grandpuppy
    • Sounds like it has an actual problem with mode select doors, or something.
    • Hope your all having a mean Xmas! If anyone happens to know any trick to using the insanely complex climate control system, I cannot get it to not be on dual zone no matter how many times I deselect it (will say it's not but both vents blow different temps). Also one side is always hot, one always cold 🤷
