The missus is keen to get up that way for family - we're currently in Albury/Wodonga and about an hour from Winton, Wilby, and 10misn from the new Logic track.

I have a track car that I have a feeling I won't be able to do anything with in Coffs Harbour?

I've had a look around and can't see anything besides a Go Kart track, surely that's not the only motor sport that goes on up there?

Newcastle and The Farm are both 3-4 hours away, Eastern Creek is further and any of the QLD tracks are also miles away.

They drift here http://www.raleighraceway.com.au/drift.html not far from coffs. I've go karted there back in the day, would be mad to drift.

Also north of coffs drag racing on a airstrip at casino https://www.summerlanddrags.com.au

That's about all I've heard of

Hmm that's not the track I drove Go Karts on up there last time.

Do you know if they do any grip driving there? Probably not if it's setup for karts, too narrow, no proper run off/safety etc.

Go karts starting to look like the only option.

Is there any Rally around that way?

I see Hillclimbs on that event list!

Why you decided to post the same question in 2 different sections is beyond me. I had started a reply in the motorsport section but in between me starting it and having dinner it has been deleted and rightly so. So heres my abridged version. Hope it helps.

I beleive you have 4 options Dan, none really that close but it is what it is.

Grafton has a go-kart track that also doubles as a bloody great hillclimb. It's a round of the NSW state hillclimbs.

Tamworth has a go kart track that is used for hillclimbs and supersprints. Now the hillclimb is not really a hillclimb as it's mostly flat but apparently it has enough elevation to make it a legal NSW state hillclimb champ event. I love going there,,,they would have to be the most friendly go out of their way club that I have ever come across. I have been known to drift the Skyline there on a number of occasions in practice and not got into trouble at all,,,actually they all loved it.

Gunnedah has a hillclimb apparently which was trying to become a state round. Funny enough we drove up this road to a lookout and I said to the wifey that this would make a great hillclimb and months later I got an invite to run up it. We couldn't go but it did look good. Sorry no link but it could be another option.

Kempsey also has a hillclimb that is a round of the NSW state champs. I've only ever been there once,,,it's a simple looking track that is quick and has bitten lots of drivers who underestimate it. The dickhead who bought my old sports sedan rolled it there.

Cheers

Neil.

Obviously for max exposure, not everyone frequents the Motorsport section and given I basically never see discussion in the MS section about events on the Central Coast, I thought it couldn't hurt to widen the net.

Thanks for the suggestions. Raleigh seems an OK option to get a fix, had a good chat with Bob from Coffs Harbour Car Club, nice guy.

Or I could swap my Silvia for a Rally car...

Raeligh don't do any grip days, you will understand why if you visit. It's far far too small for it I think, would hardly get out first gear. The track has been vastly upgraded in the last 2 years and is now pretty good condition. I drift there semi regularly and it's great fun, tight and technical :) also it's very relaxed as long as you are sensible.

They are also currently extending the track and making it rallycross, haven't got too much info on that at the moment though.
