All us VQ blokes have had issues over the years, most of the RB owners were never interested in our work and many arguments have been started over it in the Stagea section, but we got over it, and now the Stagea section is stronger for it. Sooking about it won't help at all, you need to stick by your guns and stand up for yourselves, as no-one else will.

The reason there isn't much information for the R35 is due to the cost of the cars, most owners just take their GTR to a specialist mechanic, there is little DIY anywhere on the net for it. As the price comes down there will be a flood of info on common issues, like the bellhousing rattles and gearbox fixes.

I'm sure everyone on here has a FB account. It's merely reflective of the wider community now. Only owners are allowed in the group, so it keeps out haters, spammers, and general fat etc.

I do all the services on my car myself. It's a cheap car to own, there's tonnes of parts and tonnes on info on DIY. Even the gearboxes aren't that expensive to fix when you factor in the fact nothing else breaks on these things (not that mine or many others have broken yet).

Also don't own a R35 either, I like even numbers , but I know the feeling these guys are reflecting from the BS that was started over the R34 GTR meet and greet photo shot that coped massive backlash from other skyline owners with all sorts of crap slinging put on all R34 GTR owners over the meet up weather they where going or not

It just seems the attitude of the small minded insecure few that will most likely never own something so they hang shit on it to make themselves feel better instead of just being happy with what they do have

Realistically you could apply it to any owner or demographic.

It has occurred countless times before with the R32 only cruises, R33 only photo shoots, GT-R only events and other things over the years... It's not something new and everyone gets over it and moves on, they don't focus on those few, just ignore and carry on.

Indeed, a lot about the R35 has been learnt the hard way, and unfortunately those that have had issues and trying to resolve them in here have been faced with being beaten down by RB owners who have sought to relieve their own negative insecurities, rather than constructively supporting or assisting in resolution.

There is also a lot of DIY going on in the R35 community here. For more complicated work, some choose "stealerships" and others choose select garages that know what they're doing. The DIY lessons learnt information is very much available and shared freely amongst ourselves, but not in here which is a real shame for SAU (and well RB owners who like to bash) - but technically speaking the discussion that goes on is between R35 owners and select R35 specialists outside of SAU is a massive win win for R35 owners

I think where the US and AUS differs is not in the "class" of people, but in the fact the R35 is cheaper (allowing more modding & DIY after delivery) and more readily available at a reasonable price - and the RB community feel more at home beating down on their own kind rather than the R35 group. Also has to be said, the US GTR forums pretty much cover everything there is to DIY, so you wont find much replication of DIY threads on SAU - because the information already exists.

Some of those comments are pure assumption. GTR-wise, I went from a R32 to a R35 while working in the same job living in the same house. Plenty of people the same. It's nothing to do with class. A tonne of people here dump way more in their older RB model GTRs modifying than them than people spend on R35s.

It's still a car, one the can be easily worked on. Sure, like any relatively or new cars people use dealers to service their car. Plus it's new so not a lot goes wrong so you're not going to see a thread on why the heater isn't working because of some connection somewhere.

But there's quite a lot of DIY in the FB forum, hell even yesterday there was a thread on how 'stealerships' are calling owners offering cheaper deals for people who no longer use them to service their car!

The sad part is that the fact all this information is only available to existing owners, rather than potentially owners, makes it harder for enthusiasts looking at buying a R35.

You talk as if this "beat down" occurred in every thread that has ever existed. All for a little exaggeration to get the point across - Safe to say we get it (and everyone else reading this) - Point made and heard, loud 'n clear.

So moving forward - Do you have anything constructive to add? Anything to contribute? Or are you just going to continue to be negative... Which is not really unlike those pesky "RB" owners you're talking about, but having a "VR" in the shed.

Completely agree with terry to the point that I absolutely did not see any 'them and us' attitudes at all. I had a fantastic chat with the owner of an R35 (could have been Chris, I'm terrible with names) and there were not attitudes with anyone.

The way I see it is we're all here cos we love cars, there should never be any 'them vs us'. You all should come to a cruise/event or 2 and see how you feel after that

All you 35 DIYers should be posting tutorials and such. It doesnt matter where, just make it available to all.

At least have some clear links for new 35ers to find you guys.

I am very thankfull for those that came before me and taught me so much.

I have repaid as much as i can with my contributions in fabrication, tutorials, build thread etc...

It would have been the same thing when 34s came out, people need to be pioneers and share the experience with us.

AND, for some 35 owners, its their first Skyline..... Try and be nice and welcome them to the group.
