No I'd use PayPal or the many methods of doing it safer that I've already mentioned. No wonder scammers succeed with idiots like you around.

Just saying.

Who's to say I've been scammed before?

I am not talking about something worth $5

When I sell something I have communications with the buyer, they have my phone and email but I get the payment first.

Buying on eBAy , check their rating and I use PayPal.

Private buys, I want as much info as I can get, phone and email a must, not just text, I will call them first. I would think everyone wants to be paid before sending items.

BUT I guess there is still a chance of being scammed but it helps to check what you can.

I would think your Bank would have a look at this type of thing. I got scammed through an ATM for $1800 and the bank sorted it and I was reimbursed and having an account # should make it easy :)

Additionally, get a copy of their driver's licence and or landline number.

As for Paypal, as a buyer I have never had a problem with it. But as a seller, to put it simply, I wil NEVER use it due to the simple fact that it can be used as a very easy way to rip-off sellers.

I know of plenty of cases where this has happened, and I am also sure there are "professionals" out there using it to 'buy' free items.

Hopefully this gets sorted out soon enough.
