Let me start off by winding back the clock almost 12 months ago..

I meet up with "George" to possibly swap my R32 GTST for an R33 GTST auto.. I know right.. why?!?!

I always had wanted to try the auto turbo route to get quicker times down the 1/4. So with that in mind and my R32 running a best of 12.6 @ 113, I set a goal to get into the 11's.. #questfor11s

This is the first pic I took at the Shell servo when we met up to check the cars out... Only mods, 18' Chromies, JVC CD Player and crappy rear muffler cannon..

Then went about getting rid of the shitty canon and found a cheap 3" mild steel dump/front pipe. I also made a trip down to a friend in Nowra who had a almost silent Veilside stainless steel cat-back exhaust with a nice tip.

post-38094-0-48123000-1415913014_thumb.jpg

Went about heat wrapping the front pipe and also found a 3" high flow cat. So went about putting this on.

It was about February where I came across some HKS Hiper D coilovers for a bargain price..

Like anything, its cheap for a reason. One of the rears was knocking so found a pair of S14 D2 to throw in.. and they gave me base height adjustment so cant complain.

I then started gathering performance parts..

- B&M shifter, from a R33

post-38094-0-97494800-1415913407_thumb.jpg

- Trans Oil Cooler again from a R33

post-38094-0-31843600-1415913517_thumb.jpg

- Blitz return flow intercooler

post-38094-0-25768500-1415913711_thumb.jpg

I also sold the Equips and tried on some 20's, unfortunately one was buckled and vibrated hard!

It was around April that I had sourced 2x OP6 turbos and some Splitfires coilpacks.

post-38094-0-57656500-1415914026_thumb.jpg

Sent one of the OP6's down to Stao for high-flowing and on sold the spare.

post-38094-0-84572300-1415914232_thumb.jpg

I then ordered some five-o 750cc injectors from America, which arrived in a week, along with a Deatchswerks DW200 fuel pump.

I had been in talks with Craig @ Craigs Automatics and he put me on KEAS engeering who made a stage III shift kit to suit me RE0401A gearbox.

So while waiting almost 6 weeks for that to be made I decided best time to choose and ecu.

With the OP6 installed and running 10psi iI got in talks with DVS Jez about ecu options, and was sold on buying an E420D and piggybacking it. So the stock OEM ecu controls the gearbox while the E420D controls the engine (timing/fuel etc)

So ordered one off Stao

Found some nice LED taillights and finally sourced OEM driving lights. Being a S1.5 this was optioned. Had all the OEM wiring and switch in the dash. Sweet! Also put some 35w HIDs, LED parkers and dash lights

Was on the look out or a cheap type-m front bar since mine was replaced at some point? Any found one with some damage that will be painted some time.

Made a little gauge holder for my centre dash. Holds 2x 60mm and 1x52mm gauges (Oil - Trans Temp, O2 Wideband, Boost)

July saw me buy some braided hose, earls fittings and a smallish catch can..

Which alone with my stock airbox painted in wrinkle coat.

Also the E420D arrived and I made arrangements with Jez to have the 750cc's fitted, Ecu wired in and car tuned.

post-38094-0-45485700-1415916223_thumb.jpg

I also heard from Craigs and my shift kit was ready. Dropped the car off and 2 days later all done. Chirps into second above 3000rpm.. :)

Here is a pick when Jez had her on the dyno..

So happy as Larry with the result I enjoyed the car, driving to the gym and on weekends.

Went out one Friday night to Aqua Golf @ Penrith and when driving back, literally 5 mins from home pulled up at an intersections and car stalled. Smoke/steam came up from under the bonnet and to top it off it was raining.

Car wouldnt crank over so popped the bonnet and after a while looking around discovered this little sucker had blown.. Once the car was cool, filled with water and limped her home at 1am..

Replaced the hose, bleed the system and everything seemed fine.

A week later went to WSID on a Sunday street meet confident of some decent times.

13.6 @ 113 mph with 2.6 60 footer. Stock converter wont allow me to build enough boost to leave the line hard and fast. So next on the list, source a converter.

In the mean time I wanted the sell the Varrsteons..and was able to swap for these babies!!

Little weak but I love them :) Minor rash that I will have repaired later..

Got over the gauges looking pretty crap, so bought some cheap digital 52mm. Quite accurate. Water Temp, Trans Temp, Voltage.

post-38094-0-36553800-1415917525_thumb.jpg

Did some searching on decent pads as whatever is in there is quite squeeky on slow speed light pedal braking..

So got these Remsa's front and rear!

post-38094-0-94157600-1415917581_thumb.jpg

And this is where the story reaches almost present day..

So last week jumped in the car, grabbed my gym bag and went and got my mate.. Leaving his a few streets later I noticed a red light out of the corner of my eye. Look down and water temp is at 115 deg! Look at the cluster and its 3/4.. Drive it straight home and take my ute to the gym.

Once cooled, pop the bonnet and check the coolant.. bubbles, small consistent bubbles.

Grabbed my mates compression tester last weekend and did a dry, semi warm comp test.

Cyl 1 - 150psi

Cyl 2 - 120psi

Cyl 3 - 120psi

Cyl 4 - 145psi

Cyl 5 - 150psi

Cyl 6 - 155psi

So weighed up the options to either do a top end rebuild and hope the rings are worn aswell amongst other things, or.....

Some NEO RB25 powers!

post-38094-0-66992700-1415918176_thumb.jpg

These are the plans

- change rear housing on turbo to a 21U as I find it too laggy for my street driving..

- install the modified torque converter I have (3500rpm stall)

- re-tune as can no longer get United 100.. weighing up E85 or P98

- finally install the B&M

Here is how she is as of 11/2014. Sitting on 300zx stockies while the Meisters get the rash repaired..

post-38094-0-33264300-1415918327_thumb.jpg

Oh yeah I have a wheel fetish!..

post-38094-0-51080400-1415918377_thumb.jpg

Heres my TCI modded torque converter..

post-38094-0-96238600-1415918517_thumb.jpg

Brand new RDA slotted and dimpled rotors front and rear.. leaving them boxed/sealed as they go on with the pads after the NEO swap..

post-38094-0-86882900-1415918608_thumb.jpg

And here is the front pair of Meisters back from Barrel Brothers @ Milperra. Love them!

haha Johnny, already got the NEO.. by the time the head is checked etc it'll work out similar coin to just throw the neo in.

Hope you ready to tune me next year ;)

Haha yeah man, I've got a guy that hires his dyno out to me.

Go E85 :)

So been tidying the Neo up when I can. Thermostat housing was full of "rusty gunk".. hopefully a few wash/rinse cycles after installed cleans it up.

post-38094-0-54078200-1416639798_thumb.jpg

So here is how the Neo sits. After 3 years of laying around I have used some WD40 in the bores and moved the crank pulley by hand to free and debris/build up. Hopefully it all goes to plan..

Still to do the 100,000 service, water pump, pulleys, belt, seals..

He is lucky to have a "pit" at his house, so handy!

  • 2 weeks later...
  • 3 weeks later...

Street and drag are really all I'm interested in.

Yeah I've sent a 21U R33 rear done to Stao atm. Waiting on that to come back to finish the hot side. Hopefully the stally and smaller rear will help build boost earlier/launch!

I just bought some Nismo 740cc to replace the current Five-O's.
