robr34
hey guys was looking into lowering my R34 when i ran into a few problems. Im running 10.5" rear tyres and 9.5" fronts. Now, because the front tyre has ben stretched to fit the rim (rim pokes slighty out of the tyre) the front wishbone rubs on the INSIDE of the rim at full lock (refer to picture). Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can lower the car and avoid any further contact with the wishbone? ideally spacers is an option but dont want the wheels to look ridiculous sticking too far out of the gaurds. ive attatched a few photos you can refer to if im not quite making sense, cheers guys Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/450915-lowering-a-2000-r34-na-25gt/ Share on other sites
MrStabby
FWIW, rim touching on the wishbone means the fitment is illegal, also if the rim protrudes from the guard that's illegal too (if you're concerned about that, it can void insurance). blind_elk
The relationship between the upper control arm and the tyre is a constant, fixed by the size of the king pin. Raising / lowering the suspension will not alter your problem. Your problem is related to the width of the tyres / rims, and the wheel offset. robr34
so are we saying by lowering the car (installing coilovers) the car will be still able to drive, but become in contact with the wishbone on full lock as it is now? MrStabby
No, blind-e is saying that the upper control arm wont get any closer to the rim if you lower. There may be other issues with lowering. Since you have issues with your current setup you need to fix that before you start potentially introducing more issues. Read through the Wheel Sizes and Offsets thread to try and work out what should work with your car. KiwiRS4T
The short answer is your wheels are too wide. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/450915-lowering-a-2000-r34-na-25gt/#findComment-7429616 Share on other sites
