I liked webber's subtle insult of maldanado yesterday. They were showing the lotus garage and webber was commenting on how unorganized it was with the tyre blankets coming off at different times and saying how that will alter the tyre temps left to right, but then added "but he probably won't notice it....."

Its only the Aus GP people. Its the same every year. The races that 10 do show will be with the sky team commentating

Apparently the foxtel broadcast is great. Adding the pack next week prob.

Been some pretty average commentating on ONE of the little bit of coverage ive managed to see. Thet were getting confused that someones time hadnt been registered, finally realised it was because it was an out lap. Saying Nasr's name wrong. Webber is def saving it

My mate told me foxtel still had ads, split screen...Not good enough. They don't do it for the MotoGP..

Which is our own fault for for paying for their service and putting up with their commercials. so In fact we are the dumb kents.

When foxtel first came out did they have advertising?

Nope, they used to have a 6-7 second ad in a show saying what was coming up next etc, never advertising products etc and breaks that are 2-3 minutes long like free to air

The adds are an Aus GP thing. Apparently it's part of the agreement with 10.

I was hoping that was the case. I'll be getting foxtel installed soon so the coverage for the rest of the year better be up to the same standard as the motogp

    • Actually, ethanol has probably never been cheaper, on a tax free basis, than petrol. With fuel excise being what it is, and only being levied on the hydocarbon component, not the ethanol component, and ethanol for non-drinking purposes not being subject to liquor excise - E85 was cheaper, but not because the combustible liquid itself was particularly cheaper.
    • Maybe? If changing the cat to a higher flowing cat, caused the turbo to spool more quickly, and those areas of the map had not been tuned for the boost level it is now seeing, then yes you would need a re-tune. How dangerous it is running without the updated tune would depend on how far out the tune is with the now higher boost levels, how the engine protection has been setup, is the ECU compensating with a wideband sensor, is the boost control closed loop blah blah million other things... But yeah having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if changing out the cat for a high flow, in say a full 3" exhaust, made no noticeable difference at all.
    • Ah yep. I asked a auto electrician about getting a cheap rebuilt alternator vs a new one. He also said he used to it back in the day but it ended up costing similar to what a new one would and recommended getting a new one,.
    • Ah, to clarify if the car has already been tuned and has been modified and you want to go from a oem cat to a 100 cell or decat or vice versa. Are you saying that the car doesn't need to be tuned after a cat change if it's already been tuned?
    • This has been covered a bazillion times but google wet boiling point vs dry. Motul is only good when it's fresh, once it absorbs moisture it gets pretty average very quickly. So as above, make sure you change it if you're going racing. I run the Endless brake fluid in mind, but only because a mate is a distributor and it's cheap. It's not quite as good as SRF but I'm running 380mm rotors on a Skyline so it's not like they get hot.
