Such a shame about JEV... oh wait, no it isn't

"Vergne is expected to join Williams as a reserve driver following Felipe Nasr's promotion to a race seat at Sauber next year." http://www.f1times.co.uk/news/display/09608

Good move I reckon. How much longer will Massa be around?

and just for you I'll post this here as well ;)

You mean that stupid wing or the Hamilton family? Because a 4" tall number screaming past at 100mph amongst a bunch of cars in direct sunlight is going to be so much easier to read than a $5 ipad app.

That was being talked about but I personally dont see Williams taking on Jev. He is used goods, and there is no way you would replace Massa with him when odds are that for 2016 Williams could have a seat that holds the interest of the best drivers in F1 by being a top 2 manufacturer.

I think they will find another young talent to step in and be ready IF they dont have the likes of Hulk, Grosjean, Rosberg, Disco Dan all looking for a seat.

If JEV had been composed in races I may have changed my tone but he was ragged running off the road and into people and looking a bit desperate ...all at the end of his 3rd year in F1.

Williams don't pay the kind of money the best F1 drivers want, so that's not going to happen. JEV has matched it (in racing and points) for 2 years with a bloke who's just whupped a 4x WDC and he comes cheap and he's got experience (as you put it "used goods" at the age of just 24 lol) - that's right up Williams alley.

That's very much against the opinion of almost every F1 journo. But we know you don't like JEV.

So the journos said he had a good Singapore race because of the points he got. You cant tell me it was a smooth ace performance. Every move was a coin toss which is why he got so many penalties etc. Its not about disliking him...I just dont get how people can say that he is good? He has had some mega wet performances, but when you have STR folk shrugging their shoulders about his performance or lack of...well that influences my thinking.

US GP seems another hatchet race...he seems to explore track limits more than even Vettel. I dont go out of my way to bash they guy but when people are trying to tell me how good he is??!!??!! Have to say he seems unlucky or people have just not been impressed with his attitude and approach.

If someone wants to explain to me that it is the tyres, or some other aspect of the current cars that limits him then I will accept that. But saying based on current performane he deserves more opportunities....well.

Williams dont pay top dollars for drivers...agree. But they do have a tendency of grooming young talent too. Not sure JEV fits that shoe.

For me, a driver that had redeemed himself a lot this year has been Perez. FI seemed to get more out of him then McLaren were able to manage and will be interesting to see how he goes in his second season at FI.

In real news, Hulk doing Le Mans is EPIC! We should get to see more F1 drivers racing in different cars through the year!

Bring back refueling...they should just give everyone 100kg of fuel and use it however you like. Pit stops are so boring and predictable. It'll also lighten the load and lead to variation in strategy.

blah blah I just dont get how people can say that he is good. blah blah blah hatchet. blah blah blah I dont go out of my way to bash they guy blah blah blah people have just not been impressed with his attitude and approach. blah blah blah saying based on current performane he deserves more opportunities....well.

maybe you should read the linked article. It goes into quite some depth about exactly how people can say he is good based on the stats and direct relative performances, rather than on biased opinions...

Perez? deadset! Between him and your opinion of Grosjean, I'm glad you don't agree about JEV! lol

I did read the article.

I am not saying Perez set the world on fire, but at McLaren he looked ragged and in traffic was like JEV this year, it looked a coin toss if he was going to wipe a corner off his own or the other car. This year he is looking way more composed and had some cracking and fair wheel to wheel battles that he came out on top of.

I remember it as I was rather damning of the guy and had to admit that he impressed me with his improvement in the year. He is still only 24 or so. Would have been easy to sulk in the FI but rather he seems to have gone away and is working on improving.

I hope Lotus can find a decent chassis/engine under their Xmas tree and Romain kicks some ass next year. He is IMO better than both Williams drivers and should have been an easy pick to put alongside Alonso at Mac

Everything is relative - or can be. You can construct an argument that compares anyone with anyone else a six degrees of separation later you are better than the current world champion.

Hard to see how Lotus screwed their chassis up so badly - or the aero anyway. Difficult to see how they are going to fix it for next year.

See also Williams pinched Lotus armpit sponsor.

The Rexona logo will appear on the sidepod, front wing and front wishbones of the Williams Mercedes FW37, as well as the team environment and apparel.

lol yeah he was great wheel to wheel with Massa in Canada...

You mention hachet job at USA for JEV and in the next post praise Perez for his wheel to wheel racing??? He crashed into 2 people before even completing one f**king lap in USA!!!

He also crashed into Button in Monaco.

And impressively binned it into the wall at Hungary, at least there he didn't take anyone else out.

Yeah, not ragged at all this year... lol

This just proves people's impressions are more based on biases than what actually happened.

In the US he had a Barry Crocker. I think the Canadian GP thing was more a function of the problem his car was carrying but he did get a penalty for it. Dont remember the Monaco accident.

I can think of wheel to wheel racing with Button on two occassions. One with Kimi. And with a pack of cars in I think it was Singapore. Was all fair and good racing. In 2013 he would have done it in every wheel to wheel situation.

Either way, I expected him to go backwards even further this year against Hulk but he had his moments and on the whole think he improved over his 2013 efforts. To the point that I have removed him off my shyte list that needs to be booted from F1 to the young and still developing and needs another year. Good to see both Sauber drivers get booted...and even Massa came on strong second half of the season so keen to see what he can do over the 2015 season.

At least JEV went out with some tough racing against Dan in Abadub.

    • I have an Elite 2500, honestly most of this has been a lot of smaller tasks chasing little details and a whole lot of life getting in the way of bigger projects. I don't mind too much looking at a spectrograph vs having audio knock ears.
    • Nah nah nah nah. Don't do it. It's not all about the full throttle power delivery. The main "street fun" and drivability gains from smaller rear (in this case) is how you will have boost available from a low rpm when yo just roll onto the throttle. Think jinking in and out of traffic, coming out of roundabouts, etc etc, where you just want to roll onto the throttle a little and have the spooly noise from ~2000rpm and a swell of torque. More of what you've already achieved by going to 2.5. And then, towards the tail end of 2025 you can pull the turbo 4 out and put in a V8 like we originally suggested. :P
    • Cheers for the info mate, I'm old too, 60 years old next May, so a more linear delivery of the 0.86 would be better as baking tyres and snapping heads isn't on the cards for me or the car I assume a more linear power delivery would be better for engine and drivetrain reliability as well, IRT the torque load at lower RPM???, as well as lower EGT's???, if my understanding of that is correct, have I got that right??? I've only got a really basic understanding of turbo sizing and all there characteristics  Cheers for the useful information
    • What kind of power delivery are you after? If it's nice and linear, the 0.86 would be better. If you're after bake tyres and head snaps on boost the 0.64 would be fun. I'm boring and old, so linear power is preferred. Lately I've been watching videos on Z06 Corvettes and super charged Mustangs....
