:turned:Like the title --I'm looking at buying a V36 350GT type SP --but---

I've been reading the trials and tribulations of owners in the "Firmware update" thread and don't want to go near anything that is going to mean an ongoing shit fight with tit faced dealerships ,- however I'm an optimist by nature and would like to think that problems with this car are expeditiously solvable , - in spite of initial evidence that they're just another potentially more work than fun frak up.

I've already owned a 180SX-X and an R34GT-t, both imports, and found Nissan to be well helpful , is the V36 the exception to my previously good experience with Nissan ?

I live in Hervey Bay currently and have misgivings about what local expertise may be here with Nissan ,experience with both Mitsubishi and Suzuki dealerships in 'good ole" Hervey have been less than inspiring, I'm handy on the spanner but when it comes to electronics I'm useless it's the tuners or bust for me.

So folks , how big a punt is one of these V36'iz ? :turned:

No idea , new animals to me , I've been looking further and am now trending towards the earlier 03/04 350GT 2 door but I'm not quite familiar with the model range as yet.

I found a faults thread then couldn't open the damn thing .--wouldn't have a link to a 'what to look out for 'thread by any chance ???

Go for a 05-06 if you can, they are the series 2 or 3 and have fixed most of the niggly issues like window motors and they should have the revised 6sp manual transmission (if you are looking for a manual). Although I am guessing you might be after an auto? as the V36 350GT only came in a 4dr sedan, and all V36 sedans are auto.

Most info you are after will be found by searching the page.. not sure why you couldn't open any threads though??

Thanks for the replies guys , I'm a mine of indecision over auto/manual but it definitely won't be the 4 door , didn't realise the V36 was a four door only--idiot , read the specs but----doors-- it's got doors ?, cost will dictate to some degree what model I go for and of course there's the never ending real klm issue--nothing new there--unfortunately , saymo saymo with the R34GT-t and the 180sx-x before it .

Anyone got any comment on RITE PRICE AUTO IMPORTS by any chance ??

V36 comes as a 2dr coupe too. The 350GT V36 was a 4dr sedan only in late 06-07. The 370GT comes as a coupe or a sedan.

All V36 sedans are auto though. If you want a 6sp manual, you have to go with a coupe.. Unlike the V35 which had a 6sp manual sedan available.

If you were looking at sedans, the 350GT is quite a bit cheaper, as everyone wants the 370 with the bigger engine.

Also keep in mind, the 6sp manual coupe will demand a higher price than an auto.

If you want to import one, look at the recommended importers for the best chance of receiving a quality car with accurate km. For example, iron chef or prestige Motorsport.

If you buy from a small dealer who has already imported and complied the car, you run a very high chance of buying one with wound back km or a repaired write off.

Yes I agree, in my experience, very few importers compliance the car before it is actually sold and for all of my cars I saw at least the auction sheet when I went to inspect the car.

I have also seen in some Sydney car yards, vehicles which are unregistered, but have compliance plates dated over 2 years and 20,000 km ago....

I don't think I'll go the import route on this there seem to be a healthy amount of nicely presented ones for sale onshore already , I'll keep an eye on Iron Chef though , I'm aware of their good rep , never know he may end up sat on one ---.

I'm anticipating a bit of a bun fight finding one anyhoo , as I mentioned before I'm in Hervey Bay for a while and the chance of one turning up here are, optimistically , remote , I'm 3 hours or so drive from Brisbane and a healthy 4 from the GC , neither of which seems to be overflowing with tasty stuff, seems to be long klm and primo prices are the Qld norm

.I'm thinking it may be better to take a break for a week or so come Jan and head for in Sydney to have a looksee there .

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
