Grind In 2Nd Gear Upshift Only - Advice Please

Hi all,

Purchased an R34 few months ago upgrading from my R33. I love my cars but not very techinical and dont know much about parts and DIY jobs etc.

Anyway, I have an issue where the car just doesnt want to go into second gear on upshifts. From 1st to 2nd its like hitting a wall, there is just nothing there. I softly hold it towards second gear until it sort of drops itself into gear. Occasionally if traffic dictates and I have to shift quickly I can feel a bit of a crunch as it goes in. (try to avoid this at all costs)

However I have no issue switching down from 3rd to 2nd, it just drops right in perfectly every time. I was told when I picked the car up that it had just had a major service but the transmission oil was not done. I seem to doubt that the oil could be the cause as i'd probably be having issues in multiple gears?

Anyway im unsure what to do about this and googling "manual transmission repairs" hasnt given me encouraging results. Any suggestions on what to do/where to go (located in Melbourne) would be appreciated.

No issues in any other gears.
