Hi guys.

I'm from Adelaide, been reading this forum a long ago. Now decided to register since need some help.

Does anyone have OEM front and rear shocks with springs. I need them to pass the Regency ID check since my car came from Japan with coilovers. Just may be someone is running coilovers on his car and keeps OEMs in the garage. If you don't want to sell the shocks just in case the future car sale I can borrow them just for the ID check and then return them with some cash.

Tried some wreckers with no luck yet. There are some used OEMs on American ebay but the don't ship to Oz.

Just buy some oem 350Z ones - they give a 1 inch drop, but without 2 cars side by side I very much doubt that Regency would be able to tell that they are not oem. Is that right sedan gurus?

So if you upgrade your shocks it now gets you a defect slap ?

WTF difference does it make if you're running OE or quality coilovers as long as the ride height is set to OE specs ?

In many if not most instances aftermarket gear like DMS or Eibach of better quality than OE crap anyhoo.

What a crock....

Try Nissan wreckers---?

I have a set of Nismo struts/springs from my 2007 350GT, would be interested in a trade plus a lil cash on top! Only have 15k on them, factory suspension just dropped a little over stock

OP is asking for V36 sedan different from 350z but is same as the 370GT coupes

That is a pretty silly thing to say. And the extremely simple answer is that with adjustable height coilovers once you have passed your inspection at oem height, you could go home and lower your car to whatever illegal level of you like in 5 minutes. The fun police definitely don't want it to be that easy. Plus there are almost no (maybe none even) V35 coilovers that meet (or have been tested for) ADR compliance. No ADR compliance = illegal.

I assume this isn't for compliance, and your car already has a pink SEVS compliance sticker? As if it is for compliance and the car is fresh out of Japan, you NEED to have exact oem equipment for your model and spec car. They WILL check.

And that is a pretty silly response , 'could be done' , one "could" do any damn thing .

Here's a bit more you didn't quote just to level things up a bit , "In many if not most instances aftermarket gear like DMS or Eibach is of better quality anyhoo."

And as to the ADR If they're on for the 350Z it'd a be a look that they a going possibility for the 350GT.

Proposing a solution for the OP would be a look as well ---- :whistling:

OK, here's a couple of tips. If you don't actually own a V35/V36 (unless you haven't updated your "Car" field in your profile), then what are you doing offering advice? Don't talk about shit you don't know about. Saying that a brand is "of better quality than oem" is just stupid - oems spend millions of dollars in R&D before putting parts in our cars. Sadly MOST oem parts in our cars are MUCH better quality than the things we replace them with. But the key issue here that neither DMS or Eibach make a part that is certified to ADM standards and are legal or acceptable from a legal or more importantly insurance point of view.

How many times have to taken your car to Regency, as the op is proposing? For your info I have had 4 different cars there for a total of over 10 visits/inspections. This is also the 4th Nissan I have owned, so hopefully I know a little bit about them.

I am having trouble understanding your English in the last 2 sentences (maybe proof read your posts before posting them) - but as opposed to yourself, I actually DID suggest the possibility of using 350Z/370Z gear in order to get him out of trouble, which unlike yourself IS proposing a workable solution. Unengineered coilovers will NOT pass ANY inspection in Australia (unless you are extremely lucky and the inspector doesn't look properly). Fullstop.

Last tip: don't be a smartarse to an SAU Admin ..... if he was having a bad morning he would have already given you a holiday from the forums for being a smartarse.

Compliance is done, just waiting for the sticker.

A bit of confusion here. So does 350 Z/ 370 Z suspension fit V36 or only 370GT coupe? Just phoned some wrecker today, they've got 350 Z shocks and springs but they want some $950.

So you mean that you would take my coilovers plus some cash in return for your struts?

I think that the 350Z suspension would only fit on a V35 coupe and sedan.

The V36 series vehicles share their suspension with the 370Z.

Maybe there is comminallity in the struts and springs, but would be safest to get something off a 370Z or as offered another V36...

Yes thats what i meant :) PM me if interested, the nismo suspension is already slightly lower than stock ride height, but IS a factory suspension

    • I have a VALCON if anyone wants it, I have no idea why you'd want to have VVT specifically broken out of the ECU as opposed to running it off the FCON/whatever standalone you have.
    • Hi Yes we're a bit optimistic we might get something out of sealing up the two pipes of the external wastegate and reactivating the stock one. I believe the orginal stock wastegate was tack welded shut. It doesn't budge and visually looks closed and sealed. The car has noticeably more lag so it could be at least part of the problem, maybe all. It's definately one of the key changes made since last tune. And it's one that's more difficult to fully understand and measure, not like for instance timing or cylinder compression.  Thanks for that feedback, we'll let you know how this progresses. Fingers crossed.   Regards Rob
