Hi R334door' date=' I have re read this thread a couple of times and I see no reference to the A/F ratios. If you have them, can you post the power graph with A/F ratios and boost. The Microtech has air temp correction, which I assume is being used, if so a graph of that will be handly as well. That will help the diagnosis a lot.

[i']Hmmmm.....only have the shootout graph. I'll ask whether Shaun still has that data and is able to extract it from his Dyno Dynamics gizmo.[/i]

What model of Microtech is it? Are you running wasted spark? Have you paired up the injectors (ie; using 3 injector drivers)?

Yoiks......NFI?? It's a Microtech LT12 (like Matt's) but I'll need to quiz Shaun about the rest. Hopefully he'll have the answers.

I have never run a Skyline on anything other than 98 ron, it simply isn't worth it. Since you have a "free fuel" advantage, I would suggest a 20% mix of toluene (I use 10 litres of toluene with 40 litres of fuel). Don't get it on your hands or inhale it, it's not nice. One tank full and $50 on the dyno with the items above logged will eliminate many things.

Yes.....good ole Toluene!! Had alot of fun with this stuff in the good old days, building up a mates 1340cc Mini which ran a CR of 13.0:1!! It's a interesting thought and I'll look into it a bit more. As I'm stuck with this Caltex Card for the time being it may be the practical alternative for my second tuning map.

Thanks for the instructions on checking out the timing belt Mark, I'll definitely check this out on the weekend. Would love to eliminate it as a possibility but somehow imagined it would be more difficult!

Now I see what you mean Joel. I suppose in a way this is the hardest thing to check as the injectors need to come out and go to someone else for flow testing. I can see the sense in it and I'll definitely get this done but I'll leave it until last and check out the more "user accessible" things first.

Steve, I know what your saying mate, that was my concern also (comparing it to a standard ECU). I have a Microtech LT12 and it was apparently the second unit ever installed and setup by RPM (Lachlan "Freebaggin" I'm told was the first....but don't quote me). It doesn't appear to be a problem at this stage as the results are consistent and aren't varying between fiddlings.

I have the standard ECU but I feel that this would just introduce yet another variable. I'd rather work with what I already have and eliminate one thing after another..........but yeah, it's tempting!!

I wouldn't be suprised if I discovered something like this Ben, but I highly doubt it (couldn't be that lucky). I'll definitely know a bit more once I take some covers off to try out Mark's suggestion.

I believe that my car/I hold the number two spot for an LT12 install. My car and Lachlans were done back to back - sort of like sister cars :D AFAIK.

Howdy Matt,

Whoops!! Sorry if I've got it wrong......as you know I wouldn't have the foggiest idea if it were the case (never had it back then), it's just something that Shaun mentioned when I collected the car last Friday.

He said that when he was with RPM, they had a particular naming pattern and the map name in my ECU is "RPM2R33t", so he must have figured it was the second!

 How about I get Shaun to rename the map to "RPM2.5R33t" (just in case "RPM3R33t" is also on this forum)!!

Cheers.......

    • You've just discovered a really good reason to tell yourself, yes, I do need to buy an aftermarket ECU. Put the MAF in the bin. Slap in the new ECU and have a think about what turbo sounds you prefer.  Do you want a 90's style BOV wooosh? Do you want a hektik tsututututu?  Mate, can't go wrong. Just gotta get that ECU and the world is your oyster.
    • Hi. Iam just curisou about this topic. I saw this video. It is about Greddy Type FV2. I know that BoVs are about that sound but how and when to use it? I read some topic here and from what i have understand on stock RB with MAF there will be some "problems" if you use this BoV? It vents the air in to the atmosphere and the MAF on stock car needs this air back in to the intake and not out? Or is it wrong? If so...i saw you can put some adaptor to circule air back...but does that not "loose" that sound? I saw another BoV from Turbosmart and it has two "exhaust" like ports? One is for the stock tubing for letting air back and one is for "sound" and let the air in the atmosphere? Can someone please explain? This is the Greddy one:  And this is the Turbosmart.     THANK YOU!! EDIT: So i read about this topic some more and i if i understand that correctly: That Greddy can function either like BoV or 100% Bypass valve? And that Turbosmart is what they called hybrid so you can adjust what and how many air can be vented out or back in? Is this right? THX!
    • That dirty voltage drop is the culprit I suspect
    • i cant get them all in 1 screenshot unfortunately as i just dont know how to move things around tbh, but they are all from the same log and the line crosses at the same point for all of them
    • It's about time I start work on my sun tan. So I knocked up a few parts that will all combine together to become my new power steering reservoir. Now just to produce an abundance of UV and IR rays while melting a heap of bits of alu to become one... Well, that's after I put one more hole in it for the return line to plumb to. It likely won't be this weekend, as Sunday I'm meant to be in doing some last minute stuff to the AMG race car, and the weekend after will be filled with non my Skyline stuff, followed by Bathurst 6 hour. So I don't expect to get to melt metal for at least 3 weeks.   I also managed to stuff up and start cutting the hole for the res to pump pipe on the wrong side of the line... It means instead of the lines being nice and tight against the inner guard, they'll be out off the guard.    The size of it means I should end up with about 1.8L of power steering fluid, and still have space for another half a litre before it reaches the overflow/breather. This is wayyyyyyy more capacity than factory, which should help keep Powersteer oil temps lower, and the design hopefully allows it to prevent any aerated oil being able to makes its way down to the bottom as it'll have a couple of baffles and some hopeful trickery to force air bubbles away from the bottom.
