GTSBoy
A big 5" 100 or 200 cell cat will give you a little free power, and open up the possibility of flowing a lot more if you add boost/turbo size, etc etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/452011-best-catalytic-converter-for-a-32-gtr/#findComment-7449909 Share on other sites
boobeedoobee
Bit odd how it's a full exhaust to the dumps but with an oem cat? Could it be that the oem cat has been punched through like a lot of people do? GTR-N1
Sorry to state the obvious but you'll need to ask the previous owner or take it off and have a look. Is the rear bar coated with yellow residue? Ben C34
I use a pipe through my stock cat. With approx 45 degree bend at end of exhaust pointing down and no marks at all on the bar. I wouldn't be suppose if your stock cat is hollow. boobeedoobee
My rear pipe faces down.. and when I warm it up there is lots of black shit on the floor? Does that mean anything? KiwiRS4T
If you have a stock cat it presumably bolts up so you can unbolt it in a few minutes and have a look inside. What diameter is your new exhaust system? That in NSW is an instant $10k EPA fine, cat was deliberately modded to not work And for what, there is no gain from a 3" pipe to a working 5" bodied SS cat, 100 or 200 cell makes little difference Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/452011-best-catalytic-converter-for-a-32-gtr/#findComment-7450585 Share on other sites

I'm in adelaide though, and never known anyone to have any trouble. I think it's pretty common here, which is why I mentioned it. Piggaz
Is that the actual law? I've never seen the clause of this "$10k fine" for a non working cat. XKLABA
There's not working and then there is tampered with to make not work A cat with no center could be argued poor maintance, a cat with a 3" pipe welded inside has been made to not work on purpose And as much as it would be a hard one for them to prove it was you that did it it's not worth the legal battle for no gain in performance over a good quality high flow SS cat Though I do think the full $10k is for a company vehicle Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/452011-best-catalytic-converter-for-a-32-gtr/#findComment-7450652 Share on other sites
