Cheers guys, yeah i started it in this section because i never intended on it being anymore than a daily/weekend track day car but that seems to have fallen by the way side.

Progress has dropped right off again ended up getting crook as a dog and realised that working 7 days then 7 nights really did need a break and going out to the shed every day just drove me into the ground unfortunatley. But there will be more updates, this car come out from under the covers every time just takes me a while at times

So i have finally managed to get a little bit done primarily tidy up wiring and just make the whole office abit more appealing.

So oil system is buttoned up, oil cooler mounted, filter mounted, new oil pressure sensor mounted.

Radiator has been filled up and found a leak [emoji20] bugger not terrible but will need to be fixed obviously but that has all bled up alright so pretty happy with all that.

So with the wiring i have ditched the Autometer gauges and am now running all GM sensors, oil pressure, coolant temp, IAT and LS9 Map sensor so now its all digital and can view it on the Tablet/Dash. Im happy its a shitload tidier than my first attempt and i have learnt alot this time around for the next attempt one day.

Wow im terrible at keeping this thread updated but to be honoust so much other stuff has been happening and chaing jobs etc has been a pain in the ass but anyway it sits there and gets the car cover taken off from time to time and cleaned. For now the past 2-3 years i have been helping out a young lad who lives in our town with a formula vee and he has been doing awesome and has decided he wasnt to build a sports sedan so in starting to build his for him he has got me enthused for mine and with the thunder sports category and all the new cars around i reckon im going to hit it hard and get it done!

anyway noone want to read they want some pics

so this will be like the 3rd revision of the front end and i think this time ill be happy with it and hopefully able to make a mould of it all.

so anyway a couple of pics of the formula vee ive been helping out with.

so weather today is killer was gonna go for a ride on the crf but decided that it was too good to miss so started laying some glass so i can start smoothing it all off. In the meantime letting it all dry i have been tinkering with the brakes that i got god knows how long ago.. so adapters have been made and fitted to a wheel and they touck the wheel weights so im going to take them back off and shave them abit more try to gain a couple of mm clearance to the wheel but see how we go. First actual part i have made on the new mill. everything else has been making swarf and ruining expensive blocks of alloy lol. 20191025_112327.thumb.jpg.01e4fdb232e072a2886a9dfb55239683.jpg20191025_112332.thumb.jpg.81824e8a2be622a4ef66fceac4d3f80b.jpg20191025_112342.thumb.jpg.0e8252e7960a13260f5ec9313c84cb76.jpg20191025_113734.thumb.jpg.69b718e5fbc24cfa9239ff30659d698e.jpg20191025_113747.thumb.jpg.a068e0019924a10a8202eb690d85e7dd.jpg20191025_113825.thumb.jpg.589855898a2d1a1b1aed7263b0e2e2db.jpg

What an awesome day!!

fiberglass laid over all the bits that need some work so tomorrow will be laying bog on and getting ready to start smoothing it all off and getting it ready to make the mould. Also the brakes are proving to be abit of a headache as they dont clear inside the wheel so will have abit more of a play with that and possibly have to sit the caliper down abit lower on the disk, so see how that goes.

all tucked in till next time. have a rough plan for building some of my own front hubs with some bigger bearings and more adjustability etc so might toy with that idea while im away. 20191027_191242.thumb.jpg.2e1936cdebd71ca6f9507f937256eac7.jpg

if anyones got any feedback im keen to hear it!

Best part is, you're making something that suits YOU!  Not many people make their own flares and panels.

I like the bolt on flares.  But my favourite "look" is the Alfa 155GTA DTM, circa 1996.  Even better, search up some vids and turn up the sound.

Very keen to see these progress further when you're back home from work.

Cheers Dale, yeah 12,000rpm is quite a unique sound *drool* haha

Yeah the ztune was always the dream car so the front guards being kinda z tune inspired kinda fulfills a dream of a ztune that i will never afford lol. Plan for the rear quarters is pretty similar.Screenshot_20191021-123608_Facebook.thumb.jpg.c5a718be8a84c5314f907f5e3b17a849.jpg

maybe a little more subtle but who knows till i run some corflute down them and see how it looks.

As for the oil system ive had the dry sump pump for ages and have only just made up the bracket to hold the pump in the stock AC location and the new ATI balancer is on the way and then ill have to buy a mandrel for the pulley. Im kinda stuck with the sump at the moment as i have a couple of RB25 and RB30's laying around but the new motor is a 26 block so a different bolt pattern but im thinking about making it multi fit and then what ever block im running i can grub screw the other holes to seal it up but im undecided on that at the moment. If anyone has a RB26 template for the sump that would be killer as i cant find one :(

anyway im about to board so will update you later woth me new thoughts lol

So the stock knuckles are annoying me.. they weigh an absolute tonne and its crazy thats its all unsprung weight.. so im wanting to design up my own knuckles and build something abit more universal with built in R/C correction, more offset so i can ditch the spacers and some bigger wheel bearings to avoid pad knockoff that i have heard people with skylines having once pushing the limits (not that mine ever will if it doesnt touch the track....).

Planning on a front RC about 60mm high, KPI of 12*, Camber around 6*, Caster of 10* but im not too sure about scrub radius or caster trail. If anyone has any input let me know! im keen to measure up the stock knuckles to see what scrub radius they run stock and maybe make it close to that but with room for adjustment

    • If doing that ^, I'd take the idle up valve out and plug the hole in the pump.
    • You can try capping the power steering idle up valve at both ends if it's old. The valve and the intake manifold. That is something that is known to fail in Toyotas with age and it will suck power steering fluid into the intake and burn it in the engine which can cause issues. Then bleed it again with engine off first. Do like 30+ lock to lock turns with the front wheels off the ground.
    • Hi Brent, I am wondering if you ever worked this out? I have upgraded this unit to a newer one and everything works bar the reverse camera, so i really want to know what plugs are what so I can patch the camera through. many thanks in advance Mike
    • Once you have to get up in the morning and be useful, you suddenly value sleep it turns out :p
    • Update:   smoke test all pipes no issues cleaned reservoir   fluid put in ( dexron 3 atf)   steering turn side to side and could hearing  gurgling from steering rack which I assumed was air lock, opened one of the steering rack connections and could see loads of air getting pushed out( not sure if you meant to do that / whether it will re introduce air into system)   anyways, loads of side to side sound was gone. Turned car on, pump was slightly ( barely) wining so turned side to side few more turns and fluid level when car on was almost none in resorvoir which I guess is normal if car is one. Turned car of and fluid was gushing out. Almost 200-300cc was pushed out. Repeated engine off side to side followed  by engine on and same result       going mad now. It seems system is either sucking air in whilst on or there is tons of air which I am not giving it enough time to bleed. Thoughts?   would it work like brake caliper if I open steering rack copper pipes and let gravity pull all air out?   or maybe have a restriction somewhere? What is the red circled item, could that be blocked? It i
