Hei guys, i finally got some time and cash to finalize my tune and after replacing stock with high-flown turbo 3 months ago finally get this car back on the road properly. So far apart from turbo i got shift kit and full exhaust sorted, i gotta get Injectors, intercooler with transmission cooler and ECU... So gotta ask what are the best options for the ECU and intercooler these days. The idea was to get to 300kw with ethanol conversion, so whatever works best.

thanks

Hi shone, where are you located?and who will be tuning it? That will make a bit of a difference towards ecu options. There is only a few options either way though. Emanage ultimate is still the most supported and cheapest option, but 300 killawasps is a fair bit for a piggyback. F-con is a great option if you can be lucky enough to find a harness for it. I use Adaptronic which I am very happy with but still working on getting it perfect. Will be going back in in late January to hopefully get it all finalized.

As far as front mount just get the Hdi unit. Straight bolt on and flows more then enough for what you want and plenty more.

Thanks Brick, Im in Melbourne so Scotty is doing all the work. Not sure who exactly is doing the tune as we are not that close to it yet. Just spoke to him and seems like Emanage is pretty much the only option and as i understood 300kw has been done on it and it shouldn't be a problem :0. Fcon's are impossible to get as ive heard, or? And with haltech im looking at 3x the money, so i guess theres only 1 option right?...

with HDI kit i would need slim fan? Can anyone help with this, what exectly am i looking for and where to get, any links would be great.

Also for that Emanage, where is the best to get it from and also what exactly should i be searching for as i found more than few of Emanage ECU's but which one is for m35...

Its just that i need to order these so they arrive by the time im ready to get it all done...

thanks

EBay for all of above. Yes 300kw has been done on Emanage. You need and Emanage ultimate with a universal wiring harness.

Slim line fan is just a generic slim 12" thermo from eBay

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Greddy-E-Manage-emanage-Ultimate-w-universal-Harness-/120630579957

is that the one or, coz theres a few different ones at different prices.

thanks

ok thanks for the replies.. i sorted out the ECU http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Greddy-E-Manage-emanage-Ultimate-ECU-ONLY-with-software-and-laptop-cable-/131164002218?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e89fbd7aa

scotty has the harness ..

The only thing i need to get is MAP sensor and i found these 2 on ebay they are not genuine but is there any potential issues with these and is there difference between these two apart from the price...

And the only thing left is the transmission cooler.

any advice

thanks

I have a genuine GM MAP sensor but I would be tempted top try one of the Hong Kong sourced MAP sensors advertised on US Ebay for about $12 post free! I would think they would be very similar to the ones you have linked.

If there is genuine listed id get it but i would have to wait a week to hear from that Japan guy plus by the time it arrives it will take a month, and the plan was to get the car done by the new years so.. Want to sort everything out by mid january hopefully... its just those things i mentioned that i cant find or not sure what to get

Have you looked into adaptronic's e420d? They have an inbuilt map sensor and base maps to get the car running. Target afr, closed loop tuning, aux outputs for boost soleniod etc. and great customer service and trouble shooting. Hypergear on here sell them

thanks ill check it but think scotty said emanage is pretty much the best option as fcon is not available...

Can someone help with transmission cooler, what do i need, where to get?

"Yeah why?" Because you have already asked the question before and someone (Dale) has gone to the trouble of answering it already so the fact that you ask the same question again suggests that you haven't bothered to read the reply.

I actually thought he was talking about the fan for HDI kit not the trans cooler... sorry and thanks

Do some reading in 'what you have done to your stagea' thread and other associate threads as there is alot of information in there. Also look at m35 parts pinned thread. These will be helpful to you and will stop the repost issues where people get shitty with.

@kiwirs4t.......... what kind of cooler was it again??? ;)

    • Out here E90s are the cheapest way into a sporty-ish car because everyone knows just how expensive the repairs can get. 8-10k USD for an automatic 335i.
    • Noted. Have noticed BMW are more 'high maintenance' for sure. They've attracted my attention as I think the used car prices seem reasonable vs other options, and the extra quality overall vs a commodore / camry / corolla or similar of the same vintage is appealing, especially the interior, and they are more on the sporty side whereas the others mentioned can be more cruising or economical A-to-B only.
    • Haha yeah I know, this is SAU after all, why are we talking about BMW's of all things!? I hear you on the 'don't have to worry about it' side of things. Having been fortunate enough to be have been able to buy a brand new motorbike or two...never really enjoyed them as much as I'd have liked as you worry so much about where you park it, will it get scratched, stolen, attempted theft, knocked over, etc...and yes dirty. Older less valuable bikes you can just go where you want and park it wherever and not really worry that much in comparison. And who cares if it gets dirty! Never owned a V8, and have had my eyes on VE / VF commodores for years but with their prices climbing so high, the M3 has come into focus more as prices are much closer than I've ever seen...is it a potential contender now?...of course need to factor in the S65 'maintenance' especially and like you said general M car 'tax'. One can dream anyway. But more on the reality front - did read the whole 330i thread as well and was a great read too, both threads enlightening as I've never even driven one of these cars! I do recall 330i didn't seem to have the same amount of issues for almost the same car (turbos and related differences notwithstanding)...perhaps down to getting it earlier in it's life so looked after better than the 335i? Perhaps so as your 130i has been good and quite similar, so finding a car that's been looked after well is the especially-crucial-BMW-first-step.
    • Nice. Dont worry about the time of not running. My current skyline hasn't run since I bought it. About 8 years ago.
    • It's also worth noting that I am heavily and unconditionally biased. I've had a lot of cars including some GTRs a fair while ago. I love my BMW's now a lot. They make no sense a lot of the time and the guys on here remind me regularly that I could get something else that does what I want better and cheaper. If you're going to take on an older BMW it's definitely a commitment. If you bail on it early you'll lose money and also the ability for it to put a smile on your face. Stick with it and it just gets better.  f**k I should get into advertising.
