Pinging is detonation.

That's great you trust who've put the gauge on the car and probably set it up correctly.

Is it possible it doesn't work? Like a broken wire? See what I mean about trusting a gauge . How can you when they can either be setup incorrectly or fail.

When making large changes to a tune and swapping ecu to a random one is definitely large, you really should go on a dyno to check what's going on.

Like I said, report back. Just because a car runs rich doesn't mean it won't detonate, and just because a gauge doesn't show detonation doesn't mean much.

What gauge and sensor is it?

Running an ecu with an unknown tune on it is plain stupidity regardless of AFR's or whether it's not knocking! Whats the timing map look like? What octane fuel was it tuned on?

If you cant answer these questions all the gauges in the world wont save your motor! Next question is will your tuner have the software to even look at the ecus current state of tune?

So reality is you will need to chuck it on a dyno to find these things out yeah?

By the time you pay a tuner to strap ya car to a dyno and look at your tune you may as well actually pay for a custom tune that is setup for your specific setup as it aint gunna cost that much more as the car is sitting on the dyno reasy to go! If you don't take this advice sell your skyline to somebody who deserves to own it as you clearly do not!

personaly you,how many cars you have boosted?i think none, just sitting to laptop and talking how to live,i deserve that car more than you for sure, cause normal guys told me good advices,so i dont see any point of beeing in this forum, cause i am good in cars, just started this topic to get some experience with exact ecu,not to ask your permision to live, even by that,i wont tell full results of Dyno, that was made this morning and by the way,it went much better, than i expected and i already got answer from Blitz, what that Ecu is made for,so leave your bullshit to yourself, cause all your advices without experience are worseless,go and do something in garaze, not in your chear by the pc,PEACE

tell me at least one good reason why it had to?usually engines blow up because of lean a/r,too much boost and detonation held for too long, how can such ecu effect blow off?its only richer fuel map, boost and fuel cut eliminated.

Ok,end of story,i got nothing here, but few guys contacted me on other forum and they shared their experience with that ecu, even one of them asked me to inform, when i will replace it with standalone,so he can buy it from me,good luck, dont blow your engines, while playing NFSU

You are a legend.

And have made me laugh.

The pro race gauge must be good, along with a random ecu tune.

I'm calling bullshit that you got the car on a Dyno and it ran well, but you know what, I don't care either way.

You have made judgments about me based on nothing. My statements in this thread are based on the stuff you have said. Which is funny.

I would never trust a " pro race" detonation gauge no matter what, unless of course I installed it and set the sensitivity and frequency.

I would never use a random tune.

But hey, im not you. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Cmon, tell us the results.

Hahaha at this guy! What a dick!

Wow. Joining the pack mentality, that's so tough.

I wouldn't run one of these ecu's either, but - Blitz are well known tuning company, quite likely they'd done some tuning and research as to what works best as an 'average tune' for the basic upgrades of intake, exhaust, boost increase, and it could feasibly plug in and run reasonably well. Could. Not to say it would, but could. And sounds like no one on here but OP actually has tried and knows. If i had one, and a dyno and monitoring gear handy, i'd plug it in and see how it runs too.

Wow much hate for such a simple thing. Sure there are always variables with a remapped ecu, but not really any need for amount of stupid in this thread.

Firstly, if old mate has put a wideband on the car and got afrs at about 11.5 to 12, then it clearly isn't tuned for bigger injectors, otherwise the the afrs would be really lean. Secondly, if it's been tuned for a bigger turbo then that doesn't really matter much, because it's been tuned to handle more air being forced in than a stock turbo can pump, so it certainly isn't going to lean out in the top end. Sure the timing might be a bit generous in some areas, but hey, if it isn't pinging it's arse of then who cares. There's plenty of people who have paid good money for a proper tune and have gotten a tune that's killed their engine, so it isn't the best option all the time. Hell, there's probably plenty of people out there who are driving around with a stock ecu, turbo, with the boost wound up and have a dodgy fuel pump causing the car to lean out and do more damage than what this ecu will probably do.

The replies in this thread just remind me of pretty much every flat spot thread on this forum, where all anyone can respond with is "it's rich and retard". All anyone's been able to say in this thread is "remapped ecus are shit". At the end of the day, some generic remapped ecu off the internet is still better than some tuners out there. I'm sure you've all seen at least 1 car with a "safe tune" where the back of the car above the exhaust is black with soot. Yep, real safe, cause if you hit boost you'll be out of fuel before you get a chance to grab the next gear.
