RS73, I hear you just to add the 4G series dates back to god knows when 1969 IIRC and the 4G63T dates back to 1982 in the A-175A older then the RBs.  Already making 280ps no one doubts how bullet proof these old blocks are.  As you said eventually all these great engines will dry up, SR20 supply is already drying up with the Yanks buying them up.

Time to move on to VQ as per the JGTC car VQ30DETT :)

Yeah, they were all great engines... now VQ30DETT that is the engine I wish to make it to production cars.... maybe on the 2007 GTR??? Hope Nissan sticks with their R35 GTR plan.... could they will release R35GTR in comemoration (spelling?) of Skyline's 50th Year Anniversary......???? was it ALSI-1 in 1957 or 1955? if 1995 means next year, otherwise it's 1957 then coincides with 2007 GTR "schedule"

Finger crossed guys.......

Yeah VQ30DETT or VQ32DETT was the early word...but still no one knows what capacity it will be. Only solid rumour over here is it will be a V6 and over 400ps...no more inline 6, they will have to mirror alot of the engineering from the JGTC car as the VQ35DE isn't strong enough for turbocharging if they wish to live up to the abuse the RB26 could.

Don't kid yourself...I think supplying cars and parts all over I would have some idea when things are drying up :)

Exactly what I'm afraid of... some new aftermarket parts from certain manufacturers were only made for newer cars like S15/350Z/R34/V35.... I can start feeling R33 is slowly being phased out (except GTR due to high popularity) - better start getting those mod parts now while they're still available, it'll get even harder 5 yrs from now. Or wait till u can get 15yo R33 (if import law doesn't change) with all the goodies already installed (but they'll be very old parts though)

well, technology is advancing and these days squeezing 400ps can be done much easier than it used to be, even on N/A engines without increasing capacity to

5L or using 8cyl or slapping a turbo. Looks like 3-3.5L 6-cyl will be more common in a few yrs...

rs73 - im not limiting myself to the rb and sr series, just that they hold a special place to me, like most of us on here, and i for one, will miss them, lol. the first two turbo cars i ever had the pleasure of driving happened to be a '93 r33 gts-t and an sr20 180sx, although they were only friends' cars :) so yeh they were the first experiences for turbo cars for me. Although the scariest experience for me would be driving a cordia with a 4G63 engine swap, and torque steering basically across 2 lanes and nearly off the road altogether

it's all pwr to weight... the light cordia chassis will feel lightning fast if u put any engine over 100-120kw in it. well in a few yrs when u're ready to buy ur own turbo cars, i'm sure SR20 200SX S15 will be nice or RB NEO in R34s... and prices would come down too in the future...

Or you can buy my 93 R33 GTS-t :) but not now... later dude when I'm thru with it.. LOL Unless I decided to *never* sell it and drop a VQ in about 5-10 years from now... LOL C'mon Nissan, build that VQ30DETT as production engine! I want one hehe

oh yeh of course. ive learnt the hard way that engine swaps in cordias are death traps!! haha. ive just got a great idea, how about, i buy your r33 off you now, for the money that i have in my back pocket, wait ill count it.........................ok, i have 15 cents, and im also willing to put in this piece of lint as well, now come on, ya cant pass up a deal like that can ya??? lol

No thank's, my car worths more than that u know :)

Beside as an RB lover yourself, you should be ashamed to value an RB for 15cents only LOL.... you should "praise" it, and "embrace" it, and "value" it like like gold u know

BTW been quite an interesting views here over a short period of time.... well, the main point is Nissan not really going under, just ceasing production to our "cult" performance cars to make way for new models...

In any way, the moral of the story is Nissan's case is still better than Daewoo going under - IMO

lol yeh, i have shamed myself for impulsively trying to steal your car off you for 15 cents, lol. but come on, its good quality lint!!. lol. i tell ya wat, im totally mortified with daewoo going under, nothing beats the power of a daewoo cielo. Its just a shame that nissan seems to be concentrating on more family orientated cars as of late, well thats wat ive noticed anyways

Yeah, what a shame... My workmate bought a Daewoo Kalos, now he's worried for the re-sale value after Daewoo Australia's announcement. At least GM Holden is taking over its servicing so Daewoo owner's not left alone in the cold... for the time being... and that Daewoo Cielo is just the nice little hot cars like Swift GT (of the past), or Jazz and Barinas. They won't crack the 1/4 mile record, but they're still great little performers while havin excellent fuel economy...

Nissan's new 350z seems to be selling quite well these days, kinda luv the new Maxima too... why dont they bring in the V35 series...? So we dun have to do grey imports on them....

Evo_lee, TT-ing a VQ30DET would be interesting... especially if you can grab hold of the VQ30DETT ECU they used in JGTC... hmmmmmm.... lots of hp :(

I'm kinda hoping that the japanese market go performance crazy in a few years like they did in the late 80s. We are going to go through a "drought" period with very little performance cars being released from japan over the next few years. Rx7 has been killed off, silvia = dead, skyline has been converted into a commoner car (ala the r31 and dr30 we had), supra is also ceased production. Don't think for a second though that the jap car companies aren't developing new models though, they'll just take a while to be released. Like they say, when it rains it pours

When you see most aftermarket names releasing supercharger kits you know where the trend is heading...lower boost, less engine abuse and complies with emission. Most will all return to NA performance engines and move into fuel cells.

As I said don't kid yourself, be thankful your living in this generation...enjoy it while you can. Some tuners have already bolted on S/C kits to hybrids...fuel efficent and power to boot.

Oh and remember this when I say, I told you so...

Un-fn-believeable !

Next thing you know Bill Gates will take over McDonalds to stop selling fast food and move into pumpkins and carrots...there's always carrots...

All I can say is cherish your photos and video tapes.

But look at the bright side - Soon we will be harnessing water-powered combustion...

when they've figured out how they can make a fat profit out of it...

What made u assume he's Ford or Holden guy??? He's neither one of them...

He's a Renault guy from France. And Renault taking over Nissan doesn't have anything to do with boycotting the GTR in 91 from competing in our V8 rounds.

Seems like you have lots of prejudice against Ford & Holden :D R u gonna flame me if I say I like the new Ford BA Falcon XR6 Turbo...? VL Commodores also had Nissan RB30 engine block in it, so u gotta love them too... :D

peace out.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
