Michelin Pilot Super Sport - Tirerack Best Price?

Hi guys

I've been looking at 265/35/18 for my 9.5inch wide wheels...firstly, is this the optimum size for this rim?

Secondly, I was considering the nitto invo OR nt05 but then it was suggested that the Michelin pilot super sport are pretty much the best as I rarely drive the car hence I don't want the tyres to go off as they will probably sit on my car for a few years at least...is this true?

Lastly, tirerack quoted me 900 for the michelins plus 650 for shipping = 1550 landed...seems steep to me. Can anyone recommend any local tyre suppliers? I'm based in Sydney.

I don't think tirerack do international shipping anymore Marko? Thats actually pretty cheap for the Michelins i think. Invos are a great tyre. But theres definitely better. You just after good dry grip for the weekender mate?

Ive heard 1 guy on EvoOz who actually has a VE SS wagon he had it on the skid pan and claims he actually couldnt get the back out without any clutch on the pan. Which is pretty impressive in my eyes!

I'm a massive fan of the RS-3 hankooks which are cheap for what they are. They are ALOT cheaper than AD08's and they'd be as grippy if not better from all reviews

i have been running super sport 255/35/18 on mine for over a year, great tyre, especially in the wet, too bad one has too much camber wear after track day, i have picked up set to RS-3 to see what the fuss is all about

No the SS had Michelins on it mate

I had invos on my 33 and they were impressive in the wet even with 450hp on the tar it would hook up on boost (for a little bit haha)

If you can get the RS3s in the size you're after you won't regret them Marko they really are a great tyre! They are decent in the wet (not great) my evo can turn all 4 in the wet upto 3rd gear lol. Ask Paul about my car with the hankooks on lol the lunatic has tried EVERYTHING to get my car to step out?

I paid $200 a corner fitted for 17×235's if that is any help

The RS-3s on my 34 impressed me Friday, car was in RWD due to sensor issue and had to do some running around in it, on a nice back road I gave it some beans and in 2nd gear with 19psi they hooked up and got on with there business without so much as a squeal

I personally think the AD08s on my 32 are a better tyre then the RS-3s, only just, but for the money difference the RS-3s are the way to go

I got mine off EBay from a shop in the Central Coast for $999 for the set in 275/35/19

I didnt know about RS3 until now, thought they would be a bit more focused towards track work

I am waiting on a price on rs3, nitto nt05 and Michelin SS which I'll have by tomorrow and will share here...the supplier told me that the michelins are most expensive and that the rs3 and nt05 are about the same pricewise.

Has anyone got any experience or feedback on the nitto nt05?

Whilst the RS-3 was originally released with a 140 treadwear rating, this was done to try to woo the track day guys. In reality the UTQG was always a lot higher than that, so Hankook "released" them again recently (like last year sometime) with a 180 treadwear rating. Same tyre, just a different number. So that means that they actually are a bloody good tyre, because everybody thought that they stuck like they were a 140 compound. But they last like a 180 (or better).

They are now 200 treadwear now But the compound never changed. As mine have a 200 rating
