hey guys, does anyone have rough figures of what the follow cars with the following power can do in a quarter mile?(power = @ wheels)

gsts vs gtr @ 200kw, 250kw, 300kw, 350kw, 400kw

ie: 200kwgtst = 13s

200kw GTR = 12.4s

yes of course every car will be different, but just rough estimates of each will do

would be interested in users posting their 1/4 time and kw@wheels(figures that are close to 200-400kw's@wheel)

also state tires used please

just wanna see how much 4wd is better:P

I've seen R33 GTST's in Sydney with exhaust, fmic, power fc run 12.9-13.9 and I've also seen GTR's with the same mods run 12.4-13.4 so I'm thinking at best 5 tenths different

i assume this time gap gets wider as the power increases.........

would like to see direct comparisons of kw ratings as stated in main post

that doesn't show me much

it only tells me time

not engine kw or what wheel drive

read the main post of what i want.... to compare rw and 4w

The list I linked you to ( http://skylines.pnc.com.au/drags.html ) actually tells you the model of Skyline (ie R32 GT-R, R33 GTS25t etc.) so if you know your Skylines you'll be able to figure out if it's RWD or AWD. AFAIK not one of the entries on that list uses RWD only if they have AWD and nor do any of the RWD guys have AWD transplants. If your not sure what model Skyline came with AWD then do a search.

As for rw/awkw levels, most of the entries on the list have this info in there sig's or listed under their profiles somewhere - try a search and see how you go. All the info your seeking is already on this forum in one way or another. It may take a bit of a search but you'll find it. Have fun :cheers:

You can get a 2WD to hook up pretty well, but at least it won't have the driveline losses of a 4WD at the high end of the track. Or weight.

Edit: and there's no way that "400rwkw" car has that much power. If it did it would have run alot more MPH...

Why would you assume that, do you think the only cars that are quick down the 1/4 mile are AWD?

because the more power u have, the more tranction probs u are gonna have........

never said ONLY AWD is fast;) just trying to find the disadvantaged time of traction loss or traction gained from AWD

as u stated: 12-13s on gtst is disadvantaged about 0.5s

from what im seeing so far

~300kw@rw will get u abt 12s on the quarter

but 2rismo has 200kw and still got ~12, maybe good launch + tires, etc

so ugh.......

The USA dynos factor a much lower drivetrain loss than our Aussie dynos. As a rough example (ie using totally bogus figures) ...

Australia: 250fwhp ='s 170rwhp - results in a 14.5 @ 100mph 1/4

USA: 250fwhp ='s 220rwhp - results in a 14.5 @ 100mph 1/4

It doesn't matter as long as your comparing apples to apples (ie US dyno figure vs other US dyno fig's). Compare Aussie fig's and US fig's and it won't add up.

My car makes ~470rwhp on a US dyno, woo hoo! :cheers:

    • It still combines inches with mm, especially when you have .5 inches involved, and mm and inches that can go in either direction. This would give a clear idea on both sides of the rim, right away, with no arithmetic. Even better if somebody gives you the dimensions of the arch of multiple cars. i.e GTR may be 125mm, a A80 Supra may be 117mm, or something along those lines. Yes, you can 'know' that going from a 10in rim to a 10.5in rim with the same offset moves both sides about 6mm, but you still have to 'know' that and do the math. Often it's combined. People are going from 9.5 +27 to 10.5 +15. You may do the math to know it, but if it was going from (I had to go look it up to be sure) 241mm/2 - 27 - 93.5mm from the center line to (more math) 266/2 - 15 (118mm) from the center line. Versus 93mm vs 118mm. It's right there. If you know you have a GTT with 100mm guards you can see right away that one is close to flush and the other absolutely won't work. And when someone says "Oh the GTR is 120mm" suddenly you see that the 10.5 +15 is about perfect. (or you go and buy rims with approximately 118mm outward guard space) I think it's safe to say that given one of the most common questions in all modified cars is "How do offsets work" and "How do I know if wheels will fit on my car" that this would be much simpler... Of course, nothing will really change and nobody is going to remanufacture wheels and ditch inches and offset based on this conversation :p We'll all go "18x9+30 will line up pretty close to the guards for a R34 GTT (84mm)" but 'pretty close' is still not really defined (it is now!) and if you really care you still have go measure. Yes it depends on camber and height and dynamic movement, but so do all wheels no matter what you measure it for.
    • But offsets are simple numbers. 8" wheel? Call it 200mm, near enough. +35 offset? OK, so that means the hub face is that far out from the wheel centreline. Which is 2s of mental arithmetic to get to 65mm to outer edge and 135mm to inner. It's hardly any more effort for any other wheel width or offset. As I said, I just close my eyes and can see a picture of the wheel when given the width and offset. That wouldn't help me trust that a marginal fitment would actually go in and clear everything, any more than the supposedly simple numbers you're talking about. I dunno. Maybe I just automatically do numbers.
    • Sure! But you at least have simple numbers instead of 8.5 inches +/mm, relative to your current rims you do maths with as well, and/or compare with OEM diameter, which you also need to know/research/confirm..
    • Uniclutch install vid, RB Track edition.   Highlight reel is very drive able, not noisy but still heavy with the clutch master he has.
