Hi

Looking foe some advice from people who have built high horsepower rb engines, what is best wearing and consistent engine bearings Acl, king, ndc, or any others?

Ive heard acl can be inconsistent, meaning one set is good another set is out of spec, any truth to this?

Cheers

I've used both ACL Race and King. The biggest thing you need to consider is your oil. Doesn't matter how well you prepare an engine, it's the oil that keeps it alive.

1 make sure you have a good pump.

2 keep it cool, invest in a decent cooler.

3 change the oil on a regular basis. Every 5-7000 km on the road.

4 good quality oil filters. I use K&N filters in Z9 size. Bigger filter with more surface area making it filter more easily.

ACL make a 0.001" size main bearing that I've seen used afew times instead of std size and I know after engine builders swear by them for that extra clearance.

I've used king bearings in mine for my 25/30. They are well priced and I haven't heard of anyone having any major dramas with them.

The best bearings are the ones put together in an engine built by someone who knows what. They are doing. If the clearances are crap the bearing life is crap. There's a heap of things that all attribute to bearing longevity, and with today's manufacturing technology and cq, bearings themselves are not the issue
