I purchased pre made cables and soldered them on, a company called null audio.

Couldn't be bothered making my own

Yeah I'm certainly not going to make my own, although I probably could, always easier to let someone else who does it for a living do stuff like that.

The amp I got was the one in the blue mint box that you can charge. The eclipse box, but they are all a little different, some have bass boost etc but I didn't choose that and with my headphones I certainly don't need it [emoji41]

You won't regret spending $40 on one if you have decent headphones [emoji57]

Through my iPhone if I turned it up near max it would distort a bit, with amp it went crazy loud, too loud to wear and didn't distort at all, much cleaner sound, more instruments can be heard, basically like wearing headphones worth a hell of a lot more.

I have audio technica ath 700 I think they are only about $200 worth

With new cable and amp the quality is up there with $800-$1000 headphones..

Unfortunately I'm a bit of a audiophile

Ah see I've got an on-board amp on my PC sound card, so not playing through a mobile phone or through the standard PC jack.

I plug my headphones into my onkyo stereo and with the amp it still makes a difference [emoji41]

It is more focused towards mobile devices though
