Turbo Whine On Engine Shut Down

No bearing lasts for ever. Yours shows signs of being old but you may get many more years out of it.

Thanks man. Watching the video I noticed the sound of a boost leak, a clamp on a rubber coupling to an intercooler pipe was loose

what type of turbo is it? Some turbos naturally make about that much noise on the shutdown. Particularly big BB turbos....

Well that noise wouldn't be totally out of the ordinary on a ball bearing turbo like that.

Though if it is getting noticeably, progressively noisier perhaps pull it out and rebuild/recondition (or even get Stao to set it up better) before its lets go...

I have the same turbo and the exact same noise I have heard the same noise from heaps of other bb turbos. I think it is normal . I kinda like my turbo so this thread is hurting my feelings lol

I guess you are correct, the noise is totally normal for a flogged out bearing.

I had twin 2540's on my old GTR setup, never heard a sound on shutdown.

Sounds like somethings scraping in there......
