Replacement Odo Because Sticky Fuel Guage, Now 152k Was 72k Who Can Program It Back

Recommended Posts

hi

imported my skyline r34 and seen photos with the 72,821km on the odo

now reading 152k km, because friend swapped cluster in jpn.

it was always saying empty fuel, so he simply replaced it for me.

we both didnt think about the km on the gauge cluster!

can i have it reprogrammed in melbourne back to 72k

i would want to do this some time next few days. before road worhy, and rego.. etc...

Ill get more technical..

I will remove the speed sensor and use a motor.. safer and will spin the sensor like a Crazy Bastard..

Can anyone comment if removing the sensor, will drain the gearbox oil? or it should be above the oil level?

dealership? no... OH!!! I heard of dodgy shit like this going on..

But in all seriousness I did buy this car with 72K KM on the clock and it would hurt resale value & insurance value if I dont do something about this.. and I think I better act quick before it gets recorded into aussie records as 155K KM..

to confirm my friend didnt truly do the dodgies to me.. is there a way I can check easily ?? maybe the timing belt?

what do you guys recommend? I am ok at engine work.. I know how to remove bits and pieces and put them back... so what if I have a screw left over!! :P haha nah seriously I installed a few rb's into cars in thailand a few years back

but general maintenance stuff like this I might have some troubles about know how to detect..

Would it be worthwhile trying to find the timing belt.. it might have a sticker?!?!

please give me some advise here.. I just want to confirm it has the origonal timing belt still on it.. which it should for 72,000 KM

I will take photos for you guys if necessary

i dunno where it is, still in japan i think,

plus, I want to start road worthy soon, take too long..

im wishing he sent it with the car....

im more interested in knowing if I got ripped and this really is a 155,000km engine!

Odometers don't mean squat when it comes to imports. Around 70,000kms seems to be the magic number that you see all the time. So don't worry, if your mate did swap out the odometer in Japan, the odometer he swapped out probably wasn't legit anyway.

If the car is clean and runs well then that matters more than an odometer reading. No point going on about how low the odometer reads if there's a dent in every panel and the engine runs like a dog

    • So, they simply stick out too far because very wide + very low offset (at the front). At least it's up nice and high so they shouldn't bang into the car too much.
    • Since this is the page where i found myself while searching for wheel fitment, i will add the ones im looking to replace too. Fenders arent rolled, so in big bumps they touch the tire (tires could be narrower). no any adjustable arms, so the camper is what it is (dont know). Wheels: 5ZIGEN Fireball Front: 18x9.5 ET12 - 245/40 Rear: 18x10.5 ET25 - 285/35
    • That’s a beautiful setup Tao, Have u done any development with the new Turbosmart 40mm electronic straight gate, especially in this G30 configuration?
    • Let's hope that's not a copy pump either. There were so many copies of them back in the day.
    • Damn it, I was at work last night, and stayed in a room there during the storm with the car outside, but undercover, I just went downstairs and well....there was a large steel locker that has come from some place last night, it wasn't anywhere I could see yesterday, and yeap, it landed on the fraking car....of course it did..... LOL So, I'll need to take it back for paint and panel, luckily it was only the boot that took the hit, so it could have been worse Serves me right for staying at work and getting on the cans with some of the boys
