Well not sure if there's still many people on here from when I used to frequent this forum many moons ago.

Basically the reason for the post is I'm looking to get back into a skyline (R32 GTR to be exact) have always wanted one and figured I'd better get one before they get too scarce or expensive.

I've been looking for a few months already without much luck.

I've come across a couple interstate that interest me but the main thing that puts me off these is getting through the ID check putting it into SA rego.

Has anyone done this recently and what are the issues?

I believe its easier than getting through Regency but how closely do they look at things in regards to mods etc.......?

Well after refining my search skills I found a few previous threads where this has been discussed...

It would appear as though the vehicle needs to be near stock to only need a simple ID check and therefore the one I was looking at isn't really suitable.

Here's what I was looking at anyway - http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/adelaide-cbd/cars-vans-utes/r32-gtr-403-rwkw-/1072821178

i was in your position not too long ago.

i was lucky enough to find a suitable gtr in SA which i have since purchased obviously but i too looked down the path of bringing one over.

first off, if you can i would suggest importing one from jap land, i know for instance one importer has a mint silver 32 which can be here and complied and ready to rego for high teens, no hassles.

but otherwise just lok for something really clean and as sock as possible, leave enough money for 'incase shit'

look for rusted or crushed jack points as that gets expensive.

you might be lucky and they just do an id check and off you go but there is no telling what they decide to look at.

yeah nah.

things which you can work with are things like coilovers, exhaust, wheels, these things you can swap parts in and out of to get it through regency,

the hard parts are turbos and other engine mods, extensive suspension modifications and brakes, damage/rust, ecu in some cases.

this one looks ok on face value and is in sa (i dont know the owner and have no interest in selling the car btw)

Thanks Glyn, I have checked out your resto a little while back.

I have seen all three of those cars (keeping an eye out on here carsales, gumtree etc...)

The first one I feel is a little overpriced for a 1990 without a rebuild.

I really like the second one but the whole interstate car puts me off......
