Hey guys,

I know there are probably already a few threads around regarding this topic, but I was hoping to get some advice from anyone in the V forums that may have colour coded the rims on their car.

I had a small scrape on my front bar, so I decided to respray it myself. It came out very well for a spray can job, I might add.

After giving my car a nice detail, I came to realise that the white paint is a really nice colour (I have always usually disliked white).

My plan was to try to source a good set of OEM Rays 19's, but when I busted a seal on my Teins, my money went to fixing them up. So after forking out $800, my wallet is empty and my Mrs won't let me spend any more money on my car. Sigh...

So now, I have decided to give it a go and respray my rims to match the car.

The paint code is QX1-Ivory Pearl

The car only has 17x7.5/17x8 OEM rims. There is a little bit of rash on one of them, I have a rim repair kit to fix it, and the rest are ok.

The rims themselves are heavily covered (on the inside) with road/brake/oil etc stains. I have tried yelling at them, swearing at them, and even degreasing them, but I cant get them out.

I have watched a few youtube videos of people painting their rims, and all they show is the painting, not the prep work. They funny thing is that they all say that prep work is the key to doing a good job!

Is anyone who has painted their rims prepared to walk me through the process? Or even refer me to a surefire guide that they have used?

Thanks in advance.
