skiiers? wakeboarders? winter water sport people?

Recommended Posts

just wondering if any of you victorians took active part in any water sports because im looking for advice on how you keep warm?

coming into winter, the rivers up here are sub 13 degrees (probably what you guys in victoria have all year round right? ;)) do you guys use:

- dry suits?

- spring suits?

- steamers?

- spring suit with long sleeves?

- board shorts?

i dont wanna pay $700 for a dry suit, and i just wanted to get an idea of what other alternatives there are?

cheers,

7mm is a very thick wetsuit dude!

for diving this would be appropriate but where you need mobility i dont know if it'd work?

in any case, i bought a 2mm long sleeve spring suit fully sealed. i was sweating in it from just trying it on at home, so i hope it works ok.

I used to surf all winter down here in Vic and found that i could last almost 2 hours until i couldnt use my hands anymore if i wore a 4/3 steamer and a thermal top underneath. If you dont have a thermal top, just a tshirt will do, as it really only needs to hold the warm water in.

One of my mates used to surf with us when it was like 10 degrees in the water wearing only boardies and 2 rash vests!

i guess it does come down to how tolerant you are to cold water hey :D everyone is different i guess...

i've got the 2/2 long sleeve spring suit, i think i should get the hotskin rash shirt aswell now even though its a sealed suit!

but thanks for your input! :)
