Yahoo action has it and I went to Tomei about three weeks ago and they still sell the parts, pistons, rods, head gasket, etc. Not sure of the brand in the states. Sold by a company called Raw Brokerage.

Here is the site from the states that sells stroker kits.

Out of interest, what mods does your current car have to the RB20?

Pod intake, full turbo back 3inch exhaust with a sports cat, stock turbo with EVC 5 boost controller set to 13.9 psi, greddy blow off valve, front mount return flow intercooler.

Going to buy 550 injectors, walbro or Tomei fuel pump(have a GTR one but havent put it in), turbo(most likely hi flowed) have a rb25 turbo which I put a nipple the compressor side(which every side doesnt have the 2nd nipple that the rb20 det has, it so I will not have to tap a line into the intake pipe.I havent put the turbo on yet, metal head gasket, arp studs, z32 afm, Tomei Poncams and Tomei adjustable cam gears soon. After that Ill pick one of the tuners Ive been talking to.

I have just a few question. Couldn't you do what I did for a mate. We got a r33 gtst with the the rb20 sohc in it. We did this for insurance purposes. Then we replaced it with a full build rb25det. We did the whole works. Even the suspension rear end. Now it put it short it has everything a r33 gtst would come with. I guess my question would be. Do they actually check the engine size or do the just look at the tags on tye car. Damn if that was the case. I would runn a rb26 and just on the block mod it to say rb20. Im guessing it has to do with displacement. Mate. Do whats legal. I hate these damn governments

Hello,

Yes they check. Plus most shops wont touch your car if you are not doing legal stuff. Most of those are your retail or car dealships and some private shops. Shops here have reputations they keep up. Their name means alot. theres lots of competition between the shops here.

If I was to do a engine swap, I think a 26 is better and worth it. If I am to pay extra registration fees and road taxes, etc. I would rather have a rb26.

What does everyone think of a RB26 swap?

If you want to stay with a 5 number, RB24 is the best option.

If you are okay paying for a 3 number, RB25 is the best option.

If you are okay with 350hp instead of 400, get a HKS 2530kai, put it on your RB20DET, and blow the rest of the money you saved on cabaret girls and booze.

To be able to keep up with or pass Evo's, STI's, cars with 1JZ's in them.

Well, just put a 1JZ into your car :)

Jokes aside, modding a RB20 to make big power is a silly thing

The shops are telling me metal head gaskets, studs, etc. One of the shops, famous shops, suggest making the rb20 2.4 litre upgrade.

The only reason why a metal headgasket may be a good idea is the RB20 is no spring chicken and a fresh headgasket would be good insurance. But if the engine comes back ok from a leak down test...why spend the money on IMO conservative insurance.

This is a wrecker motor...abused for years and if you are only doing the occasional track day at way less power than me then I would be suggesting std headgasket, studs etc etc are all fine. But you have to go with what your shops tells you as they have to stand by their work. But personally....I wouldnt be wasting my money on all that fluff. Std engines well serviced and tuned are perfectly reliable...especially if you keep revs under 7,000rpm and boost under 18psi...lol which i dont :)

Rather than studs yadda yadda a better oil pump would do more imo

Even if you had 400hp, trying to keep up with someone in an EVO is going to be a task, they probably full of mods too, you need to pull out a GTR to keep up with that...

RB20 is the like a baby, bring out the Godzilla to get the job done lol...

Saying that, I do have a soft spot for an rb24. Little revvy screamer, make absolutely no financial reason (although, spending cash on cars like we all do, none of that makes any reason either!)

Apparently there was an rb24 sohc carbie production engine... might be able to find parts in the US?

Cheers

J.
