Is this build really built for response, 8.5comp and no VCT sounds more like a big boost top end setup??

How would this build compare to a RB3025 neo with VCT and 9.5comp with even 50% E85 mix... surely that would of got big torque low down...

Yes I was trying to get response and from what I had, it is pretty good. It is very linear as it goes from idle to 6500rpm, well that was the highest I could go on the revs before it played up. But when I first came home I did get the chance to give it a launch from 5000rpm and there was a little 4W spin and no lag, so I guess you can say it has pretty good response.

To get near that before I was going from 7500+ rpm and it would still dig in a bit

Have no idea about your comparisons , I am sure there will be some blokes that could answer your question :)

Has to run on 98 and you have to stop spending somewhere

Everyone would love V-cam....but cant always afford it

Lol, how exactly does VCT help response over dialed static cams when response is all you are after

Yet still yet to see any proof VCT is better then properly dialled cams

The advantage of VCT is that you can dial in your cams for response at as low a revs as possible and then still get a good push further up when your static cams would lag behind. So VCT does not of itself create better response but it enables you to set up for maximum reponse while getting better power further up than if you did not have VCT.

So what your saying is VCT does not help response against cams dialled in for response

Proven !!, really, where exactly is the proof, i read alot of people saying it's better but still no ACTUAL proof

Way to be selective in what you read.....

The whole point of VCT is that you can have the (int eh case of a RB25) intake cam set for max twist down low, then have it change over to carry the torque curve further up the rev range....

But Porsche, Ford, Merc, BMW etc etc must all be wrong......

Lol, kettle black mate

The point started at someone saying built for response but don't have VCT, i posted how does VCT better static cams dialed for response then Kiwi responded basicly confirming what is said

At no point did any one mention response AND topend :/

As the guys mentioned, i have posted my graph of my stock factory RB26 more then once for people to beat for both bottom end as well as top

And i'm still waiting

We are also only talking RB25 VCT V RB26, or any other cam timing setup that only changes the inlet cam timing from one maximum to the other, though would love to see how a RB with the VE cam setup would go

ooooo.....where?

Xkalaba, don't take it as a personal attack you have to defend!

I don't like your chances of getting a guy with stock turbos chucking vct on, so I don't think you will ever get the direct comparison you are after.

What's your idle like with the dialed cams?

Spends 8k+ on VCT kit but keeps stock turbos

Idles like a babies bottom, smooooth as

Not like the 34, lol

Like i said, i'm happy to see a NEO with any turbo you like, so given the NEO has a "better designed combustion chamber" and NEO and the latest tech single turbo you can get it should easy walk over my 80s tech bush bearing factory twins on a static cam setup

I want to see same boost (19psi) run 290+rwkw and beat my 26 for response then prove it on the drag strip cause we all know dynos can be made to lie

I'm starting get personal about it cause every time i come on a performace thread someone throws up should have gone NEO or VCT and saying it with no proof is misinformation

ooooo.....where?

Fark it, cause one more time won't and you asked so nicely :P

This graph was done at a SAU dyno day back in 2007 4 days after the full wieght plus stereo R32 GTR ran back to back 11.3@125mph with a stock motor, the stock turbo world record in the link in my sig

I should have bought your car from the get go, would have saved me a shit load of money and hassle , haha

I need to learn more, but arnt the RB26 and the neo25 pretty similar heads ( apart from VCT) , if they arnt that much different then the VCT would of been good, in comparing response im thinking about how 34GeeTee's 2.5L graph with the HTA3076 has 280kw's at 4000rpm and that doesn't even have a stroker kit...
