Out of interest Pete, what/who made you go for the 3.2L stroker in the first place? Given the expense it seems like a curious mod path (to me) given what you wanted from the motor and given you had no prior experince with RB motors!

I know what you mean about no experience, haha

I bought the car on a spur of the moment thing, just liked the look and the history of the Skyline.

Did some mods on the car and it started to drive better but still too laggy, I decided to get it going the way I would enjoy it as a DD, so Nitto 3.2 Stroker was the best way I could find to help get the response I wanted. Got lots of help on SAU, OH and lots of smart arses, some good stirs but all good fun :cool:

Did the drivetrain with the build , they are great mods and it is all coming together. This is really the dumbest shit I have ever done with a car, but loving it!

When I am finished I will be happy I did it. even now it is great fun to drive and sticks to the road like shit to a blanket, even if it wont rev past 6500 rpm without farting.

I will do the next mods and see what happens :)

With those turbos and the restrictive exhaust setup..... no shit it was laggy. No wonder the thing can't make power and is far from sorted at the moment. But surely the builder would have told him that when they were considering the build. Given the current circumstances, running rich is a given.

Isn't it the same problem for every RB26/3X conversion in a 32 onward Skyline unless engineered?

not in nsw, can increase capacity by 20% as long as the engine is from the same family as the original

The PT6262 Turbo and the 3.5" exhaust system from the dump was already in the car before the build was done but they left the 3" dump and 3" cat on when they did the build, they modified the top section of the dump pipe to fit the new Turbo location and left the 3" cat on. When I asked about it I was told it was a better setup for response and if I went bigger it would give me more top end and loose bottom response ,.

I agree, I can never understand why people spend money wanting to make power and get caught up in 'you can get away with a 3" exhaust'... the best exhaust on a turbo car is none at all... no restriction.

I can't help but think either that this build should have been a 2.6 with GT-SS considering the power it has (not) made, not offence to Peter but the money spent here is bizarre for the given result.

I pulled that up this morning, read a bit but will have to look at it later on.

Michael , no offense taken, I left it up to the builder to do what he thought was best for the build. I would have done whatever he suggested needed to be done, as long as it was not noisy or peaky, I did not try to save money on the exhaust. There were modifications on the dump with the build, it was just not a good choice.

When you talk about power it has (not) made, where would you put this power in a DD and how would you make it better, always open for constructive criticism ?

To say to make this setup better you will fix the exhaust restriction and put it on e85 is great but if you did these things on you old setup, I am sure it would have driven closer to your liking, ie more response and power, actually i think it would have changed it significantly.

And its not a matter of people spending more money its a matter of spending it smart.

No disrespect here just an honest view on what I know from your history on the forum. Hope it all is smooth sailing from now on mate.

I agree this build has fallen short on what it should be making in both power and response, fixing the exhaust will help that a lot

Spending some time dialing the cam will help to, i have seen results from these cams on smaller engine and the inital take iff is way better then this build

And my own personal opinon from my experiance with CRD is get someone else to tune it if your happy with their next try

I am sure just about anyone could have done a better job building this car than I have, but it is my car and I do not worry about the money being wasted, I am happy the way it is coming together, no problem :)

The car drives "much better" than it did as a 2.6 and once the changes are made it will be a very tough all rounder, quick and a beautiful R34GTR, what else could a bloke want :)

I have no doubt that someone, probably everyone could have done better than I have up to this stage. Even with the shit going on, I have enjoyed doing it, I can afford it, would have been easier I knew what I was doing , but thats how it is.

The old set up was crap compared to how it drives now, even with the existing problems I am happier :)

This car already drives great, plenty of torque from idle right through the revs, it is strong and linear, well until it falls over @ 6500rpm :) but that will be fixed very soon.

I am not doing the E85 to get response, I will probably hardly ever use it, just wanted to have it there should I decide to use it.

Doing the dump pipe and Cat only because it is not doing the job and getting back pressure trying to squeeze it through 3".

I might be having myself on but I reckon my car will be a very tough all rounder and be pretty quick :)

A beautiful R34GTR, tough, fast and great handling, what else could I wish for . When it is finished will be the best time to judge it, until then :)
