I hate cars :)

You have a torquey responsive >500whp pump gas GTR, even if there may be bugs to iron out it probably smashes most people here's pump gas cars in terms of all around power delivery even while hobbled. I'm playing a tiny little violin for you right now, thinking how little I'd complain if I had what you have right now :P

haha, do you think I would keep spending money on the heap of shit if it was not my baby :)

Thanks for your input. Hopefully when this is all over I will go over the thread and see how it matches up with the findings and hopefully a happy outcome .

Get a bigger Violin, I can't hear you

What's controlling boost, Pete? The haltech or the boost controller? Maybe the boost controller is just being used as a digital display?

I do not know , the Boost controller is functioning but apart from that I would not have a clue , if it is just a display or controlling it. Mick ask me to have a look at something and I will do that tomorrow.

Only a week or so to go, so I guess I will find out soon enough ??

Still think it's excessive back pressure due to too small a exhaust housing

.....as asked 5 pages ago, have you had the back pressure tested, my car shares similar issues to this and I have huge back pressure.

Haha he has a smaller turbine with a smaller housing with a bigger engine being pumped up by a higher flowing compressor. It's gonna be awful if yours is bad :(

Yup, I would say so....mine's kinda nasty, iirc it's something like about 7psi

Is there a boost curve? I wouldn't be surprised if the tuner has tapered the boost to try and get around it.

I would like to hear why people think it's excessive manifold pressure that is causing the boost to taper off 5-6psi

I know this is wrong but would like to hear why you think this, exhaust back pressure can cause this but not manifold presure

Either the boost controller is set to do this or the compressor is running out of puff, I would have said exhaust back pressure as a cause but the dum pipe and cat change made little to no difference

HI Chris, how have you been.

I cannot answer anything, I asked, gave up :(

But moving on and will wait for tests to be done and maybe I can answer the question..

I doubt if there is too much wrong and will be sorted for once and all :)

It's a possible explanation, not "oh this is it, case closed." Not everyone is arrogant or ignorant enough to say stuff to the effect of "I don't know what your reasoning is, but I know it's wrong."

I'm not going to explain the reasoning as I'm well past getting trapped throwing pearls before swine, I've just taken an interest here as I've been hearing quite a bit from people about this thread and keen to see a good outcome.

Why is it a possible explanation?

What is the thinking as to why this is a possible explanation ?

I never said case closed or I don't know the reasoning, I asked what the thinking behind it was from other people

But hey thanks for reminding me why I have been avoiding posting in SAU lately

interesting what the turbo does on an evo, although yours is a 0.84 split?? so it has a 62mm turbine??

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm not explaining to you because it has already been explained in here and because you've made it clear you disagree regardless... why would I?

Was good to dip the toes in the water again and see this attitude is still strong here, I hope this works out well - Pete... I hope things clear up for you soon, I'm sure Paul etc will keep me up to date :)

I just hope this thread stops...

perhaps even on page 69 for the humour

LOL 69 , always liked that #

I have said it before, it is easy to close threads, don't read them and even if they do not close, you will not have to read the shit :)

You say the same thing every couple of months, see you soon.

Just read the last 20 pages. A lot of people have thrown different theories around with explanations. Maybe they are right or wrong, but the discussions have been enjoyable and valuable I recon, even if we are all wrong.
