Hey guys,

I will be getting a custom made carbon drive shaft from diff technics Kogarah in 3 weeks.

I know the Z comes with 1 piece c/f standard and our stock is a 2 piece.

It will handle 1000hp so if I decide to go FI in future it wont be a waste. I was planning to get stillen gen3 long intake but saved the money and got this instead.

Any thoughts? Thanks

Bear in mind driveshafts that will "hande 1000hp" can still break well below that level if you beat on them enough. A guy I know is resurrecting a famous import drag car here in NZ. He had "1000hp" driveshafts in it but still managed to destroy one with a temporary motor making barely 180hp by dumping the clutch at over 8,000rpm with slicks, and the track was barely prepped. I think he'd done about a dozen runs with them.

Personally, I think a C/F shaft would be well down the list of mods for me, but I don't know your end goal or current mods, so if it makes you happy then go for it.

Why?

This is why, bear in mind that is an aluminium one, c/f will have less vibration and less weight, even more gain.

I dont think the dyno number is realistic since there are 16 runs in between.

But reducing weight and rotational mass will always free up more hp.

$1700 installed, could have been alot cheaper if the usd currency was higher. They dont make cf in shop, its an import from driftshaft shop in the USA

CF Driveshaft isn't necessary unless you're planning on dropping serious power and it's one of those things that you'd get when the engine is out getting turbos bolted on. We've got serious HP cars in the club who don't bother with them. Light weight wheels, flywheel etc will make a difference at the numbers that you're looking at. Bear in mind that the US is known for happy dynos.
