Hey guys,

Update time, a small one but an update none the less

Now that The Black Pearl is running right, I'm going to be fixing a few small things whilst I save up for the bigger upgrades mentioned above ^ + can't save for it yet as I'm still saving for US until next month :turned:

On the cards is:

- Reverse Sensor Replacement

- Rear Number Plate Holder Replacement

- FMIC Mounted Correctly

- Window Banner Refresh

First on the list is Reverse Sensor:

so what better than to replace something that's been broken on your car since you brought it (4 years ago)? Lucky I've never been stickered or had this checked by Police :P

Will be booking my car into HyperDrive in about 2 weeks to get this fitted. Yes, I know it's easy to fit but it's easier to let them do that whilst they do the other two jobs above (FMIC & Rear Number Plate Holder).

Until next update! :cool2:

Hey all,

Took the Skyline for a drive tonight after 2 weeks of inactivity, don't worry it hasn't broken again ;) just haven't had time to drive her.

Last week, for some reason I was feeling underneath my spoiler and noticed that one of the screws that holds the break light in was missing

Not sure how it even came out considering the car hasn't moved in so long.. bad screw! :domokun: My OCD kicked in and it immediately bothered me!

So I tracked down a screw from a wreck and installed it (sorry for bad picture quality)

Good as new

Driving it at night, I totally forgot about some of my LED lights on the dash blown/flickering, so got on good old eBay and ordered these:

Will post pics etc when they arrive

Car is also booked in to HyperDrive in 2 weeks to get the Reverse Sensor fitted and to re-mount my FMIC

Until then! :thanks:

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey all,

Don't you feel like this? I know I do hahaha :teehee:

Update:

- Still waiting for the LED Dash Lights

- Car is booked into HyperDrive this week for FMIC Mounting & Reverse Sensor Install

Upgrade time will be soon, just waiting till next month to start saving as I've just brought tickets to the US which is what I'm trying to finalize next month :bunny:

Speak soon!

nah more like this

this is getting good lol.jpg&&0){for(var>

Yeah, it does get a bit like that. With every mod you do it gets better and better but it's always a never ending process. There is ALWAYS something more that can be done!

Hey SAU!

For those listening in at home, I've got an update for you all

Car came back from HyperDrive on Thursday with working reverse lights, feels weird to finally have them as I've gone 4 years w/o them! There was no wiring or sensor in the gearbox apparently :glare:

Envy that QEST goodness!

post-104024-0-32035000-1457765385_thumb.jpg

They also re-mounted my FMIC, did a good job on that too and now my indicators (also QEST) fit in the bar correctly! Best part about QEST is they use genuine Nissan parts, so no issue with fitment etc.

FMIC is also straight, which I'm happy about as it would annoy me if on the piss

Also, the red globes for the dash arrived this week. I haven't got around to installing them yet as I'm going to get some contact cleaner to clean the back of the cluster as all my lights seem to have issues flickering after a couple of weeks.

Some things I'm going to be doing soon:

- Apexi Pod Filter, as my one is old and dirty asf | http://www.nengun.com/apexi/power-intake

- Pod Filter Cover, even though my Pod Filter is held down by a bracket I don't want any pesky cops trying to wobble it for an easy sticker. They'll have to work me harder than that to get a sticker outta me :cool2: | http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pod-Filter-Air-Box-Suits-Nissan-Skyline-GTR-R33-RB26DETT-twin-turbo-/201539400538

- Front & Rear Strut Bar, looking to go for | http://justjap.com/suspension/strut-braces/sri-front-strut-brace-nissan-skyline-ecr33-er34-red.html (Let me know if you know of any better brands)

- Re-Paint my M-Spec Body-Kit, unfortunately when it was sprayed originally it didn't go too well, as there is an orange peel through-out -_-

Until next time!

  • 3 weeks later...

As far as the lights flickering I had a similar issue. It turned out to be a faulty dimming switch. The one that let's u adjust the brightness of the cluster lights.

Mine is a S1, pretty sure I don't have one :P

Your ride is looking the goods. For strut bars, give Cusco or Nismo a go?

Cheers George, although you may be a bit annoyed when you see my next update :/

Just went through this whole thread...

Absolutely loving it!

Cheers Matt, glad you like it thus far!

Hey all,
I wish this were a good update, but alas there are more issues -_- But before we get there, let's cover some good things!
Speedo lights before:

During installation:

And after:

-----------------------------
Came up good and have not flickered... yet
I then went to a Track Day, (I started and run a Nissan exclusive car club), so we have regular track days as well as cruises. Anyways, car has been tuned on 12-13psi (can't remember) it's somewhere in the thread
On this day, this car DID NOT feel at all like it was boosting @ said boost levels. Both of my mates drove it and agreed I wasn't going insane.
Got home, and could hear this loud noise in the cabin but when I opened the door, the sound disappeared. Popped the bonnet to this...

Knock Knock, who's there? :/ Well at least that's what I'm thinking. Prepare myself for the worst right? :glare:

One mate has already looked @ it and agree's it doesn't sound good but he's unsure exactly what it is. My mechanic best friend Harley is coming to look @ it tomorrow, so we'll see what he say's.

Regardless the car is booked into HyperDrive in a few weeks to suss it out

If it does need a rebuild, this will be putting my turbo upgrade back

Speaking of turbo upgrade, I have a confession to make... :/

The Black Pearl Build, may not get too much more hektik. My good friends Reden & Harley have convinced me into a sad truth, they have been questioning why I'm spending heaps of money on The Black Pearl when it isn't my end-game. I have always wanted a GTR and it's something I'm always going to be working toward's + I am looking into getting into my own home next year.

The GTR I am after is a Series 3 R33 in factory blaaaaack. IMO S3 is the best of the 3 ;) Look at all this S3 goodness:

post-104024-0-01965100-1459262251_thumb.jpg

So in light of that, not sure if the turbo upgrade will go ahead as that's $5k I could be using for a house deposit & in turn my "forever" car

But at the same time, as stated in this thread, when I brought The Black Pearl it was my intention to finish her and make it a complete car

So in all honesty idk what I'm going to do... I really don't :( I feel like I am betraying The Black Pearl and I'm not doing it the justice it deserves. Not to mention if I sold her and then found out someone else had crashed it, I'd be gutted. Even though I want an R, the thought of selling The Black Pearl upsets me!

Long post, buuuuut, I'm done :D

Until next time, thanks for reading!

As always, please help me out with your opinions!

Hey guys, update time sooner than expected :nyaanyaa:

Nabbed some S2 Rear Seats to match the Front Seat's, only set me back $50! The guy had upgraded to GTR Rear Seats so had no use for them.

They are in mint condition, no rips, tears or stains ;)except there is a little bit of fading in the top. Not really gonna complain for $50 tbh considering everything else is mint

In other news:

My mechanic friend came to look @ The Black Pearl today and sorta good news. He doesn't think the sound is a knock. He thinks it's something behind the timing cover rubbing as when you push the timing cover a little bit, the noise stops

Which is good news, however he thinks the reason the car isn't making boost may be due to the turbo being on it's way out. He came to this conclusion as if you listen near the pod you can hear a loud whizzing noise. He recommend to pull of the pod and piping to the front of the turbo and check for end play. That would explain why the car isn't hitting boost properly, but it remains to be seen if this is the issue.

If it is the issue, I might have to end up doing the turbo upgrade. Only issue now being I've got a nag in the back of my head thinking "what if I do the turbo and then the bottom end does go"..

Worked it out, for what I want to do:

- Z32 AFM

- 950cc Deatschwerks Injectors

- 6Boost Low-Mount Manifold

- GTX3076R w .82 Rear Housing

- 48mm|50mm Turbosmart External Waste-Gate

- GReddy Profec OLED

This will be - $4853.06 | not inc labor

Then factor in an RB25 Rebuild Kit:

Costing - $2,395 minus shipping

Brings the total to - $7,248.06

Keeping in mind an estimate of $2.5k (maybe) for the labor, now brings the total to - $9,748.06

Which is almost $10k I could be using to put down on a house..

Really not sure what to do at this point in time. For me, doing both isn't an option. It has to be one or the other

On one hand, I could spend $2,395 (for Rebuild Kit) + shipping + labor + an RB25 High-Flow Turbo and spend maybe $5k in one hit

Or on the other hand I could spend $4853.06 + labor to get the turbo set-up stated above, but I run the risk in the back of my mind of the bottom end possibly going.

Really stumped as to how I'm going to proceed

Please give me some feed-back!

Thanks!

No offence meant at all with this post...

But it is just a gts-t.

So send your turbo to hypergear and get it high flowed. If the bottom end goes. buy a new motor and slap it in. Don't bother rebuilding.

Much cheaper and easier.

Find out if it is the turbo. If it is, replace with a stock second hand r33 item. Install yourself with a mate while having a few beers. Save 10k for gtr , happy days.

Yeah, that's true. Still booked into HyperDrive in a few weeks. So will see what they say too :) I'm hoping everything is fine

    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
    • Wasn't there a thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago?
    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
    • Brand was ard.   I also threw a brand new battery at it and beefed up the wire from the alternator to battery and added an extra earthing point from the battery
