I think they come with petrol particulate filter, probably why it's even quieter. Does it have fake engine noises (through speakers)? Can you disable it? I know on BMWs they have that, an can code it out ("Advanced Sound Design" or some crap like that). I checked my car and it doesn't have it, so the soft farts are real exhaust noises hahaha.

The AMG is definitely a cut above the standard A45. I‘m a fan. Congrats.

been eyeing off an AMG GLE63 to replace the SQ5, still tossing up between that, a Cayenne GTS and a bigger Audi, either the SQ7 or SQ8.

Nice! I love it!

How are you finding those upgrades?

So I have the intake, the charge pipes, the XHP tune and MHD Stage 1 tune done on the car and jesus - it's actually QUITE a significant improvement.   Will do the dump pipe and tinker a bit with the brain after that, but for such mild mods it is not at all a slow car and very very fun to drive.   I am loving the hell out of having something that drives so nice and my not-car-people like the car as just a "nice car", gets around 7l/100k on the open road or 9l/100k around town (basically better than the Hondas I started out modifying but WAY faster) but I can do petrol head things and enjoy it more than anything else I've had.

I think with the dump pipe and keeping the turbo at a point where it's not too strained should keep me happy for quite a while.

B180 went in for a service. Pretty comfy sled for carting two little kids around with every conceivable electronic gadget and option being an AMG Line.

The roof is 10cm taller than an A Class, other than that it's near identical. But it makes a world of difference trying to load a toddler into a rear facing car seat.

The lane departure pre-emtive braking shits me though, the number of times it's had a false positive and just started applying the brakes while driving cos it got confused by a reflective road after rain.

Looks nice Shan. Every time you post its about a different car!

To be fair this is the wife’s car. However, I have been accused of owning more cars than I have pairs of undies. Luckily I change my undies more frequently than the cars.

I'll bite. I no longer own any euro's, but I thought I'd share two of my favorites I owned. My 500hp B5 S4 and my 800HP E55 AMG. Yes I did attempt to drive the E55 in Canadian winters, that lasted all of a month as it was a death trap.

I love both of these, but the AMG presses a lot of my 'happy' buttons.

Absolute best bang for the buck I've ever owned. Stock they had somewhere around 550-600hp, a pulley, intake and exhaust later I was at 800. Absolute torque monster and blast to drive.

my current daily - BiTurbo Diesel SQ5 8R with a remap and some light cosmetic mods.

Which is sitting in front of my old daily that hasn’t been driven in 7 years now, home to numerous redbacks no doubt.

IMG_1224.jpeg

MK4 Golf GTI with a boser hood extension, air ride airbag suspension, factory RHD Xenon’s from the Japanese R32 and stubby electric mirrors (also from Japan) sitting on custom made 18x10” Work Meisters for the golf’s bolt pattern and offset.

one day I’ll revive it as a project, pull the engine out, put some forged bits in, chuck a big turbo on it and tune it to somewhere around 250kw and call it a barn find to make millions off YouTube views. Till then, it is a good breeding home for redbacks and the boot is good for storing my Christmas tree for 11 months of the year.

I love this. I still have a special place in my heart for Mk4's.

Thanks! Shame you got rid of yours. Guys are getting insane power out of them with the newer turbos these days instead of the venerable K04.

Just jumped on Carsales and realised that my old Flog is considered low mileage due to it being parked up for close to a decade.

A group of friends hired the local drag strip off season, cold weather and no prep means it was super slippery but still allowed for a fun day of 1/8th mile (no ambo meant we couldn't do side by side 1/4) roll racing and Dragy runs.   The wee BMW didn't embarrass itself at all considering the 2WD group I was competing in had a couple of supercharged V8s (an LSA and a blown LS2), a 600kw M135i, a 500kw R32 GTS-t and some other spicy things - I actually ended up beating the blown LS2 & 600kw M135i heads up in roll races and faced the GTS-t in the final, losing by just over a carlength which is far more than I was counting on with a very mildly tinkered with M135i.   For transparency sake this was EVERYTHING to do with being a fairly short distance on a shit track and having something without any lag and a brilliant gearbox, on a prepped track or a full 1/4 I'd have been destroyed.

I did do a single sneaky full (well actually turns out I hit the brakes 10 or so metres early) 1/4 mile Dragy run and hit 12.88 @ 109mph on the brakes which is precariously close to my PB in my old GT30R GTS25t that ran 12.6 @ 111mph on Hoosiers :D  Pretty damn stoked with that considering I had a single attempt, and despite seeming well suited to the conditions vs the higher power cars and the time slip not looking THAT bad I still was having to work hard to not just do a rolling burnout <100kph and doesn't really show it's best at all.  I am pretty sure it would happily match the old R33 with a full run on a better surface

Yep, I really miss mine. I dont, however, miss it's understeer. Hard to find a genuine 'Sport' model these days.

That sounds awesome! Good fun and great result!

I'd love to do a 1/4 in mine now that its reasonably healthy with the tune. I last did a run in my white GTR, I think it was a 12.3 and I can't remember the mph and I think the little E90 might be quicker.

I drove back-to back a B250 (i think it was 2015-2016) and my 2015 BMW 225i Active Tourer. $10k cheaper than the hatches, so got more interior space and top spec, loads of power for FWD etc.
B-class = felt real cheap inside, gearbox was weird. So insta-bought the BMW because it was nicer to drive (torque converter auto) and interior was nicer. Not bad for $20k just as COVID lockdown hit (cheaper than any Japanese/Korean hatch weirdly, although a couple years older). Thankfully mine only beeps when it detects cars (no active assists), the "driver assists" are never good (makes sense when you're busy staring at your phone while you drive I suppose).

tl;dr- B-series and Active Tourer are underrated (basically GLB/X1 without the extra bulk).

Apologies for the rant.

Yes! I joke with my wife that it’s a fancy looking Honda Jazz. It’s weird where they cheaped out on plastics but kept the electronics fancy.

B Class gearbox can eat a bag of dicks. It’s terrible.
