They look insane.

$55k drive away is a bargain too. Got two years to run on my current lease. The RS will be a strong contender for a replacement then.

Can't wait for Chris Harris to test it.

But do these things have Ford's dual clutch transmission?

So many complaints from everyday drivers.

Not such a problem if the car is pushed hard where the transmission can correctly predict the next gear.

St is manual only. And FYI the dual clutch transmission problems in the normal focus have now been solved. The issue was an incorrectly fitted transmission seal leaking onto the clutches causing excessive shudder and slipping. Ford has been replacing the contaminated clutches and seals as required. They know behave quite well. Still have very little occasional low speed shudder but acceptable. My wife owns a focus and we have gone through the above. We're now quite happy.

Good news that Ford has finally acknowledged there was a problem, took long enough.

Many dissatisfied owners will never trust that company again, but then it's pretty much the same story from the rest too.

What amazes me is these car companies jumping onto the twin clutch band wagon when some can't even get a single working properly.

You'd think after 100 years that the old dry plate clutch would be trouble free.

Yeah, it was a quiet acknowledgement. Handing clutch control to a computer system sounds good in theory but hey, so did communism lol. Mass producing manufacturers hold out on admitting a fault or problem for as long as they can for reasons I don't understand. The only thing that makes any sense in that case is if they don't know what the actual problem is.

Back on topic. The st is manual only and is a cracker of a car. The coming RS can only be better, you would think. AWD and a drift mode button. Hmmm, much want. If only the wife could /would drive a manual.

    • Don't take it as a guarantee. It's all a game of statistics. And on top of that, smooth over a thick layer of "quality of spanner spinning" as a further Gaussian curve of probability of failure. You play games at anything above ~400 HP, and you're using up margins in terms of engineering and luck.
    • Aye, everything is being touched and all the parts that are responsible for the oiling issues are also fixed. (Crank collar, billet prp oil pump, head return to sump, yada yada yada)  Everything used is of reputable brands like greddy, prp etc. My tuner did mention we’d keep the torque on the “lower” side.   glad to read that my engine won’t blow up on me lmao
    • It's a fuel pump. EFI, high pressure, but specs otherwise unknown. A bodge job.
    • 800 engine horsies is fine. Will need all the obvious upgrades. Rods, pistons, oil pump, big sump, sump breathing mods. Build for revs because revs are power with less stress on the bottom end compared to boost. Keep the torque down in the midrange, either by limiting boost or timing.
    • Hiya guys,    i’m currently in the process of getting my rb26 built. everything is being replaced with better/upgraded parts or oem when that’s good enough (which isn’t alot lol). someone earlier mentioned to me that i’ll be screwed cause the iron block can’t take 800hp (to the engine, not wheels) which is what it’s being built for.  what do you guys think about this, am I cooked or na? The guy building the engine will also do the mapping as he is “the guru of old nissan engines” here in Belgium. I know the mapping makes a huge deal so i’m not concerned about that.    I honestly he’s talking shit cause he’s that kinda guy but a second opinion never hurt anyone! cheers in advance! 🫶🏻
