Dunno about the R33 GTR, but the official R32 service manual pdf is on the net in many places. The procedure for entering diagnostic mode is probably the same.

I would say though that it is far better to go to a workshop that has a good scan tool and hook that up to the Consult port than trying to get shit computers into diagnostic mode. It's much easier to read codes in plain text than try to interpret the bloody flashes on the dash!

Thanks Im in the US on this one so I will be taking it in for the full timing belt soon but wanted to get some sort of an idea. thank you

A bit more info would help

When does it come on, ie straight away or after driving for 1/2 hour etc

First check fluid in the reservoir in the boot

There is a fault code list somewhere that you count the flashing light on the ECU under the pacel shelf

Its on when the car is turned on -

its at the mark for max fluid

One possible cause is insufficient level in the BRAKE fluid reservoir (I'm speaking from experience here).
