Well I'm starting to compile a list of the parts that will be needed for my old 22 year old Peugeot 306 XR. On start up she does smoke quite a lot which I'm suspecting is the valve stem seals purely because after a while the smoking settles down. I've owned the car for almost 7 years (Bought her in November 2008) and she has been off the road now for almost 4 years. In total she has clocked up 153,328 miles which isn't too bad at all for an old 1.4L engine.

Engine is a TU3 series 1,360cc producing (once apon a time) 75bhp which sounds like nothing compared to a lot of cars on this forum. The car has no rear window which was my fault but as for corrosion it isn't as bad as it should be for a car of this age, there is quite a bit in the engine bay which I want to deal with but underneath it isn't too bad. I took the pictures with a stock digital camera so I am far from an expert at it so please bare that in mind :P

I've bought some decent 10-40w engine oil from the store that I work at, doesn't have to be amazing as I just want something clean because the oil has been sitting in there for almost 5 years, I have a new filter and some Wynns engine flush for my day off when I have time to do it. I've been told an numerous occasions to scrap it and quite a few times I've tried but couldn't bring myself to do it, I'm stuck with her and that is OK to me and since it is a 1993 XR there are only around 500 left on the roads in the UK so all the more reason to keep her and once I can find a garage or somewhere to rebuild her I'll make a record so I can put together a build log of some description.

No-one wants to see your old Peugeot in a Skyline specific section, did you misplace it here? The new Euro section above might have been better. :P

Cold start smoking can just be a little blowby causing excess oil to drop down from the PCV overnight and sit on the valve, nothing to worry about usually, unless it does it all the time.

That would have been better but couldn't find it and also it does it all the time on start-up.

All the time, meaning constantly while running.

As a test just drop the PCV off the intake for a few days, and plug the intake side only. Should prove it's the PCV or not pretty quickly.

All the time meaning on start-up. I leave it running for around 10 minutes and the smoking calms down. What is the PCV?
