Clunking From Front Of Car

Any idea what this could be? Last time it happened it was to do with the bearings in the hub. I don't think its bearings since I cannot feel it in the steering and its only a sudden clunk on braking.

It will only do it once when going forward. If I putt he car into reverse it will do it again if I brake in reverse, then again if I go forward. I've applied some force to anything I can to check for free play but can't find anything.

Where should I begin?

Radius rod bush.

Google for a quick guide in how to diagnose it.

Basically jabbing the brakes at low speed, like 20 with a friend watching the wheel will more than likely show excessive movenent.

Agreed. Or crossmember bushes.

If this radius rod is the castor rod, mine are replaced with solid arms. Must be shaggered, I'll pull it off and have a look. Cheers guys.

Yup and possibly.

Pretty much any of the other bushes in the front end could cause clunking too if they're borked enough.

Haha I had that same issue you. Go in reverse, move about 5kph, press the brakes, clunk, move forward tap the brakes clunk.

For me it was the trunnion/king pin bearings. That really big metal enclosed joint that connects the upper control arm to the hub assembly. Hope that helps!
