Hi everyone.

So I'm having an issue with one of my coil packs, I found one of them blow out (pack 4)so I replaced them all, they are not the best of the best coil packs, I only paid $220 for 6 of them, anyway I replaced them an now the same one (pack 4) has blow again, Iv checked how much power each pack is getting thinking it could have been the harness but that seams to be good, just seeing if anyone has had the same issue or might know what the problem could be, thanks.

The picture is of the first coil pack I took out that was blown an the second one did the same thing.

How likely could it be the timing of the dwell on the ecu to keep stuffing up that 4th pack?

The dwell is the same on all six though, right? Higher dwell will run them hotter, so you would expect that to reduce their life, but I would expect that worst case it would just kill the primary coil, which would then become an open or short circuit. That big chunk out of the side is some weird shit.

Do you have an aftermarket ECU?

I'm not sure if the dwell is the same for all six, how would I find that out?

Iv only had the car for three or so months now an it does need a tune..

Can the dwell affect just one pack? Maybe it's too high on pack 4 an keeps burning it out?

An I'm running a 6860 ecu
