So I've had a belt that was slipping/screaming on start up for a few months now and hadn't gotten around to fixing It.

Today when I started the car it took a long time to stop slipping and was running pretty rough. Clunking through gears etc.

Then all of a sudden I lost the speedo, temperature guage is moving up and down sporadically, pretty much every guage is acting strange and I have ABS warning light and AT check warning light.

Any thoughts as to what might be causing this? Seems unusual that it would have anything to do with the belt and maybe that's just a coincidence? ECU problem perhaps?

Help!

Just saw you profile pic. So m35? Could be two issues. The dash lights and rough sounds like water in the battery box. Common issue when the drain bung gets blocked from years of build up

So the alternator belt is slipping, and you're having voltage related issues?

Change the belt, tension it correctly, then load test the battery.

The start of winter is when they tend to fail.

Mine is not an M35, it is a C34 S1. Had the same issues with the dash. Slipping belts is a Stagea thing. Keeping the belt tension correct is an ongoing issue.I use two Gel batteries, and one was crook. Replaced battery but did not fix dash. Had to take one out of the Dayz. Problem fixed.
